“Excellent”

Sol Falco

9 Jul 2008

Returned from the Sol Falco on Saturday, for a 3 star hotel it was superb, great variety of food, everywhere spotless, nothing too much trouble, all the staff really friendly and helpful , no trouble with getting sunbeds. The animation team worked really hard and were brilliant. Flintstones theme throughout hotel Dino comes out dancing round the pool each day!!
I think it will soon be a 4 star hotel.
One thing tho with the Euro being strong drinks are rather minty,
We soon found the KING KONG/JACKS bar down at the beach 5 mins walk away . Down to the beach and to the left near the end. Owned by Carl and Andrea who are fabulous hosts, lovely food and the BEST thing was buy one get one free all night
If you go there please say Hi from Helen and Megan
Cheers

Sol Falco

This was our third trip to Calon bosch , but our first visit to Sol Falco . The hotel was truly beautiful with fantastic restaurant. There was food for anybody ! We stayed for 1 week and every day there was diffrerent food about 20 dishes then fab salads and desserts, there was something for everyone to enjoy. During the day you could relax by the pool or join in with all the free entertainment .
The Sol Falco is in a excellant postion , a short 5 min walk to marina & beach.

This was the first holiday where I can say we would definatley stay in the hotel again ,it was very clean & clean towels everyday, the staff were really helpful no complaints at all unlesss you could say the food was so good I gained 4lbs !
See you soon Sol Falco

“Had a great stay!”

Sol Falco

I have just returned from a week at the Sol Falco and can say I would certainly recommend this hotel, but there were a few initial problems that we managed to get sorted but once that was sorted it was all very enjoyable indeed. There were 5 of us in total - My Partner and I our friends and ther 6 year Old daughter.

We booked through Thomas Cook and arrived in Mahón on time and the transfer (Approx 55 Minutes) showed the very well kept Island of Menorca. First Impressions were that it was a quiet Island - and looked unspoiled.

Arrived at SolFalco and Reception Staff were very pleasant and welcoming - the Hotel looked great! We were Put into "Rancho" Block of rooms, both parties right next door to one another. First impressions - fantastic but as one of the other reviews stated - the walls "are" paper thin so having your parents or kids rooming next door may be a problem if you know what I mean? All got unpacked and ready for hitting the pool - then our friends daughter slipped in the bathroom on water that was on the floor and smashed her toes on the marble sink units and was in a lot of pain. The water seemed to be leaking from under the bath/shower but nobody had used it? After she was bandaged up we set off to the pool and all was great for the rest of the day.

We were very happy with the selection of foods in the food Hall - there are enough choices to keep everyone happy - for the price of going to half board, I would certainly recommend it.

So we went to get our heads down on the 1st night but as soon as I lay down on the bed the pillows/sheets/matress stank of damp so I had to strip the bed and lay on towels for the night. We also had the leaking bath like our friends next door and had to use all of the towels to make the floor safe to walk on the next morning - we started to doubt our choice a little.....

Next morning we mentioned it to our Thomas Cook Rep- Fiona who was very helpful and spoke to the Hotel on our behalf and after a few questions and an inspection they moved us to different blocks. It turns out that "Rancho"had just been re-opened for this summer so it had been laying empty and un-aired since last summer. We moved to "Finca" and our friends to "Gange". We were both very happy with the rooms for the rest of our stay. We even cam back that night to find a letter from the management apologizing for the inconvenience and they left us a nice box of chocolates too!

The Hotel was run very well indeed - pools very well kept - bar staff (Juan especially) very pleasant indeed - entertainment was great for kids and activities throughout the day are good and the staff not to pushy to get you involved. Very large Gymnasium too but treadmill not working but great for weights and pulley machines if you want to have a work-out.

Tip- if you want to have beers/drinks by the pool then just walk to Spar which is not even 2 minutes of a walk from the main pool as a freezing cold pint can of San Miguel is only 89c as opposed to €5.50 from the bar! Hmmm..... As well as cold Sangria, etc....

Rented a car for 3 days (Renault Megane for €114) and I would recommend that as we went to Citeuadella (Old Capital) one evening for a meal and a look about - only about 25mins drive, Mount Toro which is the highest point in menorca with stunning views on a clear day, Cala Galdana Beach, and Binebeca Beach - all very well kept, beautiful places that are worth seeing. My favourite was Binebeca Beach. Beautiful clear waters everywhere with great snorkelling.

In Calla'n Bosch you have the Marina with a range of restaurants and bars. Nothing in your face again - not really a place if you're single or looking for a wild week in the sun. More family orientated. No clubs, just disco bars and smoking ban is not enforced in Menorca so it can come as a bit of a shock if you're looking to go inside for a dance. It really is noticeable to get the smell of smoke in bars again.

“Very impressed given that the Sol Falco is 3 star.”

We chose the Sol Falco for its proximity to the local marina and its restaurants as we usually enjoy sampling the various tastes of where we are staying. Although we booked half board the Sol Falco allows you to have either breakfast and dinner or breakfast and lunch.

Our room was light, spacious and everything worked well. The beds were comfy and hot water was always available.

Food at whatever time of day was exceptional. The choice was so varied that it would be very hard to moan there was nothing you liked. To be ultra critical though, the only consistent let down was the fruit juice from the machine at breakfast - very watery and like a very diluted squash. Given that this was the only gripe says a lot about the quality of the food. In fact although we intended going out most evenings to eat we only went out twice as the hotel food was so good.

During the day, there are various competitions to take part in but no pressure is exerted. For parents with young families there are several pools of varying depths and the Flintstones club seemed very popular. The pools are somewhat bracing when you first get in but thereafter fantastic to cool off in. The water quality is monitored daily.

The staff speak excellent English and are all very helpful.

All in all, as a 3 star hotel I would highly recommend the Sol Falco to anyone.

“Great hotel, great Food, great Staff”

Sol Falco

We stayed at Sol Falco in October 2007 and the hotel is first class, My wife and I took our 19 month old daughter on her first holiday and it was perfect for families and for our daughter. The hotel is spotlessley clean and the facilities are great. The food quality and selection of food was superb and catered for many different tastes from your normal English food to more exotic foods such as caviar. The staff there could not do enough for us and they gave our daughter so much attention. I do not think I have ever come across a more friendly and helpful set of hotel staff. The hotel is located in a quiet area and a nice 5-10 minute walk gets you to the lovely marina area where you will find several bars, cafes and good quality restaurants. There are two beaches close to the hotel which are great. All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone but especially families, we are already looking to book for next year.
