We were absolutely blown away by this amazing hotel. It is perfectly laid out, compact, stylish and beautiful. We had a superb room (a22) . It seems the majority of ground floor rooms open out onto the pool, pure bliss.
Every single member of staff, especially Dionisis (Dennis) the bar manager and George, the maitre d'hotel, the chef, the maids the gentleman who works around the pool, who soon learns your preferred lounger set up and arranges it for you in advance, are outstanding and all work endless hours, credit needs to be given to whoever put together this team of staff, as they are the best we have experienced in a number of years of vacations.
The bar was excellent, made perfect by Dennis, drink prices are very reasonable, not your usual steer clear of overpriced hotel prices. It stays open until the last person wishes to leave and is a great atmosphere to meet fellow international guests.
Breakfast is fresh and delicious and if your requirement is not visible, just ask George! If he can arrange it, he will. You must also lunch and dine here - we lunched at the bar frequently and although initially thought that dinner may be expensive as the ambience suggests this - it's not!! Instead more reasonable than many restaurants outside the Hotel and offers a more exciting menu.
The hotel location is perfect - just a few metres from the beach and main strip, yet private. Initially I had looked at hotels along the beach front for the view, but appreciated when there that the pool area of these hotels, whilst beautiful, are exposed to the people walking up and down the main strip.
Regarding Kamari as a resort : we did hire a car for one day, which was more than adequate to see the island and whilst Oira had some amazing views, in my opinion Kamari has the best layout. Each bar / restaurant has fantastic views over the beach, the restaurants basically offer the same menu at around the same prices. Drink prices can vary considerably!! We paid between €3 and €6 (in Fira) for a small bottle of local beer. Highly recommend the hospitality at the Liverbird bar just a short walk from the hotel - a great drink and the perfect hosts.
I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this exquisite hotel or the exceptional staff, just one tiny disappointment for such an immaculate hotel is the complimentary toiletries, George they're rubbish!! Remember to take your own shampoo and body wash!!
Regarding Kamari, we travelled 15-22 May and the first 4/5 days were scarily quiet (and very windy/cold!), sometimes it was only us sat in the bars and the much read about live music at specific venues either hadn't yet started or weren't going to - I'm not sure whether this is a good week/2 weeks too early to visit Kamari or it is a reflection on the ever increasing costs of European resorts? We did speak to one Kamari venue that is heavily mentioned as having regular live music and were given the impression that it was no longer financially viable to put music on as it was too quiet,........... maybe €12 for two local drinks could be the reason?
For transfers from Airport to hotel - take either the prebooked shuttle bus (around £12 return) or c...
