We were very disappointed. Our room was not very clean, - we did request to replace the soiled blanket and another blanket was brought to us - not much better. Our beds were ready but not made - sheets were at the end of the bed - have never seen this before! Our toilet was leaking and when I talked to management about this I was told that it was not the toilet but the sink and they would fix it - it was not fixed during our stay and it was not the sink - it was definitely the toilet! We had the light in the bathroom go out which I reported to management in the early afternoon - they still had not arrived by evening (very difficult to shower in complete darkness) so my husband took a bulb out of one of the other lights in the room - but the light in the bathroom was rusted inside so it broke when being removed - luckily he had a headlamp and tools to remove the bulb! There is only hot water between certain hours for showers and even during those hours we experienced cold showers! The airport is very close and the planes start arriving around 6 am and it feels as though they are landing right in the room - so no sleeping in. We were told they had a satellite TV to watch World Cup - no TV. The front desk person Angie was helpful in many ways and I would like to acknowledge her efforts, but unfortunately, the rest of the experience was not condusive to a pleasant stay.

Good Hotel. Booked here after reading good reviews and seeing reasonable prices. I was not disappointed. Staff was very friendly and helpful -- they reccomended sights to see and they helped us book an island tour. Rooms were clean and nice. Breakfast is outside by the pool -- food is basic but good. Location is great, as it is right accross the street from beach, and right in the Kamari beach district with lots of restaurants/shops nearby. If you take advantage of the free pickup from airport, make sure you notify in advance. We forgot and tried to notify them at the last minute, and wasn't sure if they got the message or not. We ended up spending money on a taxi, but found out later the staff still tried to find us at the airport. I would reccomend this hotel.

“Excellent friendly staff”

The Boathouse Hotel

We are 2 married couples in our sixties. We travelled to Santorini for the first time on 4/10/2007 for 7 nights. The weather was great throughout with constant sunshine and temperatures in the high seventies fahrenheit.

Santorini Airport is small but adequate and we were met by Spyros from the Boathouse for our complimentary transfer to his hotel, a journey of no more than 15 minutes. The Hotel has 21 rooms and we had booked 2 with a sea view. The rooms were large and ours had a double and 2 single beds, our friends had a double and a single. As I understand that most hotel rooms in Greece tend to be basic then these would be best described in that way. They were spotlessly clean and the view of the sunrise each morning from our balcony was breathtaking. It was well worth the little extra to have these rooms. I believe that the rooms at the back of the hotel are smaller.

The Hotel has a small pool and bar with a terrace on which your breakfast of cold meats, cheese, fruit etc. is taken. Coffee and orange juice are also available.

Spyros also owns the Almira Restaurant just down the road from his Hotel. The staff there are so friendly and helpful and the menu is extensive and the food well presented. We ate there 7 times which speaks for itself.

Kamari has a pebelled beach with sun loungers available(payment of 6 euros per day). There is a good choice of places to eat and most are quite reasonably priced. You can visit Fira by local bus (1.2 euros per per person single journey) Fira is bustling and has spectacular views of the Caldera plus many shops.

You must visit Oia at the northern tip of this very small island (12 x 9 miles). It has narrow streets with a plethora of cafes with outstanding views of the Caldera and although we didn't see it a spectacular sunset.

What made this holiday good for us was without doubt the Greek people who are so friendly and helpful. Why can't we be like this in England?

Stayed a couple of nights at this hotel, when on the island for a friends wedding.

It cost 100Euros for b&b for 2 nights for myself and my husband.

We'd confirmed when we were arriving with Diane at the hotel a week before and she arranged that on arriving on Santorini, Spyros was there to meet us for a complimentary lift to the hotel (it's about 8 mins transfer time).

When we arrived at the hotel, our room wasn't quite ready, so they gave us a free drink and let us sit and enjoy the sun for a while. The hotel is on the seafront and is owned by the same people who own the Almira restaurant, next door but one. We ate there on our first night and the service, atmosphere and food are all fabulous.

Kamari is a lovely part of Santorini - a lot quieter that Fira and Oia - although both of these are worth a visit. There are some lovely bars, restaurants and shops running the length of the road next to the beach and it gives the whole location a really nice feel. It could be made to be tacky, but it's not.

Our room was a sea view and the air con was brilliant.
The room had a fridge, which was welcome in the mornings, to get a cold drink. (you have to supply them yourself though)

The bathroom was a bit of a disappointment - the shower head was a bit rusty and the toliet seat was cracked.
The beds (2 singles together) were quite comfortable.

Kamari is close to the airport and is on the descent path, so the jets coming in to land at night were very loud. Perhaps not the ideal location for children or people who are light sleepers (I only heard it as we got back to the room late after the wedding).

The breakfast is served next to the pool, overlooking the sea, which is really nice. It's a standard continental (cereal, bread, bolied eggs, honey, jams, cold meats and cheese - along with tea, coffee and squash) but does its job.

The hotel organised a taxi for us to go back to airport and it arrived bang on time. It was slightly more than the hotel had advised - they said no more than 12 Euros - it came in at 15.

Whilst there, I would definitely recommend seeing the sunset at Oia - extremely beautiful.

“Great Little Hotel on the Beach”

The Boathouse Hotel

6 Oct 2007

My husband, daughter and I have visited Santorini a number of times over the past 10 years, and discovered this family run hotel on the beach in Kamari. We've stayed there 3 times and each time we have been warmly welcomed and have had a terrific experience. Simple, comfortable, clean and air conditioned rooms (ours faced the pool and beach with a great deck and view), delicious fresh breakfast buffet by the inviting pool (which is a great place to relax after a hot day on the beach), and very knowledgeable, responsive and accessible hosts. The owners, from Santorini and Vancouver, BC. ,speak English and Greek, and can recommend terrific restaurants across the Island (some very non touristy), beaches and sights to visit, car rentals and tours, and other local services, attractions and things to do (we love going to the Kamari outdoor cinema - easy to get to from the hotel). Their restaurant, Almira, which is located next to the hotel, is also a find - right on the beach, but away from the more busy, crowded Kamari nightlife, serving great Greek food in a beautiful setting. Dinner at Almira is a relaxing and satisfying way to end the day after touring, shopping or spending the day at one of the many beaches in Santorini. After dinner it is fun to stroll down the Kamari walkway before heading back to the Boathouse. Each time we have visited, the hotel has been updated, freshly painted (great colors!) or new amenities added. We hope to visit again next summer and see what new has been added. We highly recommend this affordable, great little hotel.
