We returned last night from our one week holiday to Santorini. More than any other destination we have visited, there were lots of conflicting bits of advice about where best to stay. We used all the resources of Trip Advisor to help us decide on what was to be our first ever trip to Santorini.

Having read lots of hotel reviews, and read many, many posts on the Santorini Forum over the preceeding months, we finally decided to stay at The Acqua Vatos from 4th - 11th October.

Our decision was based upon the excellent reviews that this hotel receives, and its central location in Kamari. We were looking for a quieter, more relaxed resort, whilst still being able to travel to Fira, Oia and other locations around the island.

We knew immediately that our decision was the right one as we began to correspond with the hotel via e-mail, and received the first of several prompt, and detailed replies from George.

We opted to upgrade our room to a Superior Double - for a small supplement. There are a wide variety of rooms and suites available in what is a small family hotel. George arranged our transfers from the airport for a competitive price.

Upon our arrival we were greeted on first name terms by George - and so began our love affair with Santorini, the resort of Kamari, the Acqua Vatos hotel, and its staff and management.

This may be a small family run 3-Star hotel, but everything about the service is 5-Star. The hotel is perfectly situated within the resort, as it is quite close to the main local bus stop (buses every 30 minutes) allowing easy access to the capital Fira.

We hired a car in resort for 3 days to enable us to see some of the more remote parts of the island. We did consider doing this before we left home, so we had done some investigation on rental agencies and prices, however George rang a contact of his on our behalf, and arranged a vehicle for a much lower price than we would have been happy to pay. Just part of the sort of service you get from George and Alina.

Alina's recommendations on places to visit were always spot-on, together with all the required maps (sometimes hand-drawn) and directions, as were their recommendations on places to eat. Never once were we anything other than delighted.

This really is a special hotel, run by special people.

George and Alina, you and your staff made our wonderful holiday to your spectacular island a TRULY MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE!

Just returned from a great week at the Aqua Vatos in a Junior Suite. On arrival we were shown to our room and greeted with a bottle of wine and basket of fresh fruit - lovely touch and much appreciated.

Must agree with all the previous reviews about cleanliness, great hosts, good food, great location, etc and we found it exceptional value for money.

Drinks and snacks were less expensive than any of the restaurants or bars we were in and the service was far superior. The personal touches and the genuine caring attitude of all the staff was very much appreciated.

Only one down side and this in no way reflects on the staff, and it was (could not believe this) that most mornings some towels were put on sun beds at the pool and no one on them for hours! Bit inconsiderate and unfair on other guests. The guilty were not from where you would expect either!!

Would definitely recommend this hotel and will certainly be returning.

We stayed at the Acqua Vatos for one week in the end of September and we really had the time of our lives. From the moment we stepped in we felt that we did the correct choice. George in the front desk welcomed us with our first names which came as a shock to us. From that moment George and his sister Alina did everything they could to make us feel at home. They spend hours talking with us in the reception, making our daily program for visits around the island, giving us suggestions of places we had to visit and places we had to avoid - “tourist traps” as they called them. With their suggestions we visited all interesting spots of the island in just two days, so we had enough time left to spend relaxing in the huge pool of the hotel. The hotel itself stands in a perfect position, one minute walking from the beach and the beachfrond road where all taverns and shops are located. Our room was fairly good in size considering the Greek standards and the fact that we reserved a standard and not a superior one. The whole hotel is colorful decorated and spotlessly clean.
Thank you George and Alina for all your efforts to make us feel so comfortable and we'll be coming back soon. That’s a promise. (Or a threat maybe?)

My friend and I stayed here for a week at the end of September/beginning of October and had a lovely, relaxing time. George, the owner is friendly and very helpful and the hotel is spotlessly clean and has a very nice warm, welcoming feel (the candles everywhere after dark are a very nice touch!).
The breakfast every morning is wonderful (an incentive to get up in the mornings!) and the pool is a very good size with very comfortable sun loungers. It's also worth noting that the hotel is ideally located for all that Kamari has to offer whilst still being beautifully quiet. I can't wait to go back!
