We booked this hotel directly having seen it in several brochures and the photographs make it look beautiful. The reception and pool were impressive when we first arrived, but when we were shown to our room we were gutted. The room was tiny, you had to walk sideways down the side of the bed to get to the bathroom. It was desperately in need of redecoration and it smelt strongly of damp. The bed was tiny and as my husband is 6ft 8, he could not fit in the bed. We asked to move rooms but they were fully booked. Thankfully, they offered to move us to another hotel which was fantastic. If anyone is thinking of staying at the Thalassa, don't be deceived by the photos.

I really loved this hotel. There was nothing separating the hotel from the beach.. the bar was actually on the beach and from there it was only a few steps to the sea...bliss! Our room was very reasonably sized and comfortable and was typically Greek in colour and furnishing, as was the exterior of the hotel, white washed walls and bright pink flowers, all in the backdrop of the sea.
I found the hotel staff to be very polite and friendly, and even met up with some of the bar staff at a bar in Kamari, and had a brilliant evening with them.
The only thing I would say is that the food is a little too expensive for what you get,but we didnt eat at the hotel much, theres too many fab restaurants to eat around Santorini! Some people complain about the planes coming into land as they do pass quite low over the hotel, but this didnt happen often enough to annoy me, and most of the planes were small ones.
Santorini itself is an amazing island, with so much to do and see, and the atmosphere of the whole island is something that I wont forget in a hurry. The Thalassa is a stunning hotel which met all our needs and more, and made for a very relaxing and chilled stay.

After reading some of the reviews I went expecting the worst- and was plesently supprised.
The first room i was given was small but reception moved me straight away. my nest room was much better, although there was no shower curtain wich i would have expected in a 3+ hotel, although i understand that shower curtains in Santorini are a bit of a rarity.
The pool area was fab, only a few sunbeds but there waere plenty more on the beach and on the lawn area.
The staff were great and offered me a complementry meal for moving rooms.
The hotel is very close to the airport and you do get a lot of plane noise but having travelled to Santorini several times I knew that a lot of the hotels in Kamair suffer fro this.
All in all i had a fabulous time here and whilst i found the price to be slightly high for the hotlel its self, sitting on a private beach under the moon, the staff and the reps definately made up for this. would prpbabily come back here.

The outside was a 4-star, the room (superior room) a 3-star, the bathroom a 2-star. The bathroom was too small, the shower had no tent, so the water went out washed the whole bathroom. The bathroom had no window, it only had a grid that was in connection with the bedroom and with the bedroom and the bathroom on the upstair and with no air-change: you can imagine what a smell! The bedroom was large but there were a lot of things that reduced the space.
