Just back from the antonis pool bar and apts. The apartments were in an ideal spot being approv 250 - 300 metres from both cristal and Stani beach, There are shops and restaurants immediately outside the apartments and the main steet of kalamaki maybe another 150 metres to the left of the apartments. We were allocated the much talked about and dreaded A block apts. Yes they are basic, yes they need refurbished but beleive me we have stayed in much worse. The apts were clean and basically equipped. with a fridge, kettle , 2 ring cooking hob and dishes pans cutlery etc, in kitchen area with a small table and 2 chairs. ( there was only the hubby and me in this size apt ) Small bathroom with shower which was detachable so more of a hose down really but we actually liked this better. Two single beds with concrete like matresses but this seems to be the norm in many places we have stayed. Dressing table with drawers and single sized wardrobe which was a bit of a squeeze but we never wore half the things anyway. Downside was 1 socket in bedroom area so a bit of a pain with changing hairdyers , mosquito plugs etc. The upstairs apts where we were had morning sun on the balcony and it was blooming hot so a nice relief in the afternoon to chill with a cuppa. There is a nice morning breeze on the upstairs landing in the mornings outside the main door of apt with fab views over the bay. Apartment aside , the staff here are wonderful and will make your holiday. The pool was lovely ranging from 1metre to 3m deep and also a separate baby pool. There is food available all day from the bar with a good menu selection and reasonably priced. Put it this way we only ever made a cuppa in the apt. Daytime staff were Niko and Ullio who were also pleasant and courteous and service was swift. 2.50 for a pint of Mythos and also a good bookful of cocktails to choose from starting from 3 euros. There was some sort of entertainment on every night at the apts where the staff were replaced by Pedro . the lovable Leo and the lovely Lou who went out of their way to make sure you were sorted with drinks and were enjoying yourself. Over the 2 weeks we were there we had the Greek night (12 euros - food a dronk and marvellous dancers. ), Karaoke , quizzes , deal or no deal, bingo , elvis , Dr allan - The oldest hippy singer on Kalamaki ( great voice ) etc, and a marvellous hostess wendy and her hubby on some of these nights. Most nights the bar would be open till the last man standing but its up to you, what kind of holiday you want to have. There are some great restaurants in the area our favourites being Michaelos ( a maybe 10 min walk ) past the crossroads, Stani , down by the beach and Hera which is outside and to the left of the apts. There is also a good chinese and Indian combined restaurant at the other end of the main street which was also good. In fact we never had a bad meal anywhere in the fortnight we were there. We preferred Cristal beach with good clear waters , no need for beach shoes. Sunbeds and a brooly were 7 euros for the day. We also did the day trip on the boat to see the shipwreck at smugglers cove, the blue caves , and kerri Caves with a few swimming stops thrown in. Food and drink prices were huge on nthe boat so best take your own. This was a long day but there are also many half day excursions available with all prices being quite reasonable from thr tour shops within the resort. We also had a nice couple of visits to the Crazy golf which is open from 10 am till late. Chicago Bob who made and runs the course is a lovely guy to sit and have a chat with after your game. All in all we had a great holiday in Kalamaki and found it to be an easy leisurely resort to holiday in. We will no doubt return prob with other family members as we tended to see this a lot with families who had been returning for years. We paid very little for this holiday with Thomas Cook so were well satisfied if a bit exhausted after too many late nights on return. Just a note aircon and safe are extra at the apts . Think it was about 135 euros for the fortnight.
