our apartment had new furnishing / dish washer/tv dvd player/ private beach for kids/ going back again

Having read some reviews, we were a little anxious but were pleasantly suprised at what we found. We stayed in a one bedroom villa in 'Canarias' and had a great time. Some areas do need touching up and some villa equipment needs replacing, but they are in the process of doing this and I would still describe this as a good 3* resort. My fiance and I have travelled extensively all over the world and have stayed in worst accommodation - including in the UK. The complex is a 2 min walk from Costa Teguise which has some great bars and restaurants (if you look beyond the 'All Day English Breakfast' variety). We had breakfast and lunch in the villa everyday - supplied from the on site shop. The entertainment looked to be a bit holiday camp but people with kids seemed to love it and we just went out into the resort. Our room was cleaned everyday and we had no complaints about the cleanliness. The staff were friendly and helpful and we would definately return for a week of winter sun.

Ok lets break it down,
Accomodation - dirty, smelly, dated
Entertainment - Boring , Cheesy, (-)
Food - Terrible stomach problems
Resort - Very nice we saw a lot of it cos we couldnt stay at SBV due to the above.

If you are used to good quality 5 star accomodation, this is not for you. If you like Butlins and Pontins budget accomodation, this is for you.

Arrived home this evening and had to write to say me and my wife have had a great week at the Sands. Villa was great and plenty going on all day and in the evening. Granted it was in March but the atmosphere was relaxed and nothing was to much trouble for the staff.
Only down point was the access ramps for prams and wheelchairs which were very steep and very slippy when wet something of an accident waiting to happen.
All in all a great break and would use again.
