Just got back from Drago Park today had 2 weeks there- I was using it as a base and after reading reviews on here I lowered my expectations in alignment to what I was reading.
Good bits . Rooms spotless - sheets changed every 3 days !! - the maids are excellent and standard of cleanliness throughout hotel is superb, including in the food areas/
STAFF very pleasant and worked hard in all areas of Hotel
I asked for a quiet room and got one overlooking the pool which was fine as it was quiet during the night, Air con was non existent first week there , despite my asking for someone to look at why it wasnt blowing cool air- maintenance guy came quickly but put his hand in front of louvres and said OK ????
During 1st week Hotel was Very quiet with only a a few guests - in fact only 30% occupation which mirrored why the A/C was off ,,,, to save money in my opinion - when the hotel filled up second week .... the A/C suddenly started blowing cool -ish air and I was able to close the patio door at night and not wake up in a pool of perspiration,
I woke virtually every night around 4 am feeling warm and It always cooled down again about 6am which lead me to thinking the Aircon was turned off in the middle of the night for an hour or so to save money, it wasnt desperatley uncomfortable but something I noted along with other guests I spoke to.
Food........ well it was very poor selection wise (and Bland) the first week with obvious recycling of various dishes incorporated into the next days menu.
You could always get enough together and cobble together some sort of meal from the buffet - but it wasnt fine dining, so if you are a gourmet type you will commit suicide :)
All the Salads were Excellent day and night - but I wanted more than salads sometimes.
The Ice cream was great too.
We had carrots and chips as one of the choices for breakfast on two occasions - but also Bacon eggs and beans thankfully ....just still trying to work out the carrots and chips bit,?? and so were our German friends, who had stayed the year before.
They said the food had gone down in quality and wouldnt return again.
we went to a chinese at the shopping precinct at the top of costa calma under the Hyper dino supermarket, which was very nice for a change.
Reality check ... I had to reflect on the price I paid and what I would get here in the UK for the same money. I was paying £58 a day for two of us - all inclusive - drinks were not top notch but non branded spirits, Beer was Tropical, local brew in canaries, and though a bit Gassy for my liking was fine.
three meals a day plus snacks in the mid morning and mid afternoon- spotlessly clean Hotel, Food was edible -but nothing fancy, never had - or heard of ANYONE having any tummy upsets from food - I got scolded by the chef for not picking up a piece of Lemon for my Fish Dish with the tongs ( 10 out of 10 for that In my book) they had food Hygene well covered to an extremley High standard.
Water in swimming pool was tested every Day, the pool areas and gardens are immaculate with people swarming over the cleaning activities on a daily Basis.
Would I go Back - YES but only for a week with the expectation to have a few meals out
We all like to get a lot for our money but you can only get so much .
Anyone reading this and about to go there, dont worry its an OK place to stay really with a few minor glitches,
MAIN GLITCH - I cant understand how they get everything else so perfect and the food so boring.
Oh and the Gym is like the returns dept at argos. Hope this is read as an Honest review from my personal experience,( everyones opinions differ)
