“Loved it!”

Hotel Torre del Mar

Excelent hotel. Clean. Friendly service, from the people in reception to the cleaners. We had a Suite with fantastic sea views. The waiters in the pool restaurant really looked after us, giving our children some lovely fruit salad for dessert even though we didn't order it, nice paella. At night you have to get in a taxi to Ibiza Town to see some life, we went to a tapas bar recommended by hotel staff that was great. Will book this hotel again soon!

Very comfortable, clean and well served! View from the room was amazing. Location is probably no the best, but if you rent car, its not a big problem. There's also own parking 10 meters from hotel. Loved staying there.

I stayed here for 4 nights as part of a tour package. I needed a 4* hotel with a WiFi connection and a parking lot near Eivissa; this limited the choice to just a few hotels. This hotel fully met my expectations and I am very satisfied, although it is absolutely not geared towards serving a young single like me who came to the island to party, enjoy the beaches and do tiny bits of work in between.

The hotel is located at the end of Playa d'en Bossa that is closer to Ibiza Town. I found it by following the signs from the airport to Playa d'en Bossa and then simply driving along and looking at hotel signs. The hotel has a free parking lot for guests, but at times, it was nearly full. There are not many parking opportunities on the streets near the hotel. I got a sea view room. Unlike most other hotels in the area, sea view rooms are indeed facing the sea, so you get a great 180-degree sea view from the old town of Eivissa to the watch tower at the southernmost tip of the island. I also saw a great sunrise directly from my balcony. I suppose that sunrise over the sea is only visible after the 2nd half of August; before that, the sun raises further North and over the hills, rather than from the sea.

The hotel has a swimming pool and a tiny "beach" with sunchairs that is in reality a mooring place for boats and doesn't look inviting for swimming at all. However, Playa d'en Bossa is a 5min walk away, I always went there for swimming when not driving to remote beaches. There are no places of interest in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, but the Ibiza town is reached by boat from Playa d'en Bossa (5 min walk) every hour in the morning and every 30 min in the afternoon, and also by bus and taxi. The boat ride to Ibiza town offers great views. The Bora Bora beach club and the Space club are within walking distance. Everything else on the island can be reached by car. I didn't experience any traffic jams in the area. There is a supermarket nearby.

The room was not very large, but clean and convenient, with a free WiFi connection. I didn't find any power outlet near the desk, but there was one near my bed. There is a room safe for rent, but it was too small for my laptop and would require me to carry a key (I prefer safes with a combination lock). The air condition worked fine and the mattress was good too.

Apart from the very entrance, the hotel's public areas look (and smell) dated. They are clean and posh, but just have some 70's feel in them and were pretty deserted as well. No problem for me, since I don't spend any time in public areas anyway.

I had half board. The breakfast was too basic for a 4*. There was no freshly squeezed orange juice. They had a decent cold selection and fruits. The hot items were fried eggs, sausages and bacon. The breakfast ends at 10am, which is way too early after a night of clubbing.

The dinner was nice. The main course and the dessert has to be ordered (but is included in the half board price). Everything else is on the buffet with an impressive selection of cold and hot starters, soup, salad, fruits and sweets. No hot coffee or tea in the restaurant (seems to be this way at all hotels on the Baleares). Having to order the main course meant fresher food, but also added time to the dinner which I personally would have better spent elsewhere. The service at the restaurant was spotless, it must be very nice for couples and families.

The hotel staff was very helpful, with English and German spoken with a slight preference for German. Obviously, the hotel is geared towards serving older travelers so they couldn't help me with party tips or get tickets, but apart from the party scene, I found them very knowledgeable about the island and helpful. The clientele is mixed, with families, party people, young and old couples to be seen.

I am very satisfied with this place and can highly recommend it to families, older travelers or party people who need a refuge away from crowds and do not want to party in the hotel itself. Will certainly stay here again unless I decide to try the new 5* properties in Eivissa.

The decor was dated. The staff unfriendly. The area around the hotel is terrible -- no restaurant selection, tourist trap shops and pubs. Definitely not 4 stars. On the up side, the hotel was clean and our room had a sea view, which was beautiful at sunrise.

Pro's

Great staff! Friendly, truely multi lingual. They were very patient with my Spanish but most all spoke good English.
Guests are friendly too, not stuck up! We made a lot of new friends.
The location is the best and accessible to all the decent fun places. No need to rent a car. Mini marts nearby, and lots of great clubs near by withing walking distance. No party animals running amok at this hotel, it is a more mature but fun crowd.
prices are decent for the rooms and we received a good package from AAA with breakfast and a double room for a little over 200 euro per night. We did not request ocean view rooms and upgraded for about 8 euro per night to one that did.
The restaurant is top notch! Breakfast buffett is awesome! The hours are 730-10, a bit tight if you have been out dancing all night!

The dinner menu is posted all day in several languages and is phenomenal. There are three choices for the second course and two desserts to choose from. The first course buffett is fulfilling itself.
The poolside cafe is great with decent prices
The bar has great prices and fantastic friendly staff. oNly 2.14 Euro for a glass of draft beer (.4L).
the location is the best. Quiet, but accessible to the local tour boats dock is next door), lots of store and restaurants nearby and some of the better clubs. Tickets for boats to ibiza city, formentara, and a natural preserve boat tour along the coast are available at the desk.
The tennis, ping pong, and mini golf are free and just ask the staff at the front desk for the equipment.
Why bring your laptop and use Wi Fi with all the hassle when you can just pay 1 euro for 15 minutes on to check email and surf the net in a downstairs hall way next to the gym.
The outdoor pool is freezing but the pool deck overlooks the Med and Playa D'en Bossa and is private and you don't pay anything for the lounge chairs and umbrellas like you do everywhere else.
The pool table near the outside cafe is only one euro per game and is in good shape. Be sure to challenge the bar tenders after 10 or 11 pm.
Beware: many ladies are topless at the hotel pool.

Cons: The AC in our room on the ocean side barely worked but the weather was mild enough to make it not worth a room change.

the gym is overrated. Old dilapidated exercise bikes, a weak wobbly little step machine and a decent universal gym but with ropes instead of cables!

We never used the spa, sauna, jacuzzi) due to its limited hours and cost (10 euro).

We will definately book this hotel again, and I don't mind if its an annual event. It is worth it as this Hotel is awesome. Rent a car for only a few days if you have never explored the island because in the end you will just want to stay at this hotel and its pool, restaurant , staff and go dancing nearby.

    • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — hard to find hotel, just take a taxi and rent a car by day (Hertz was awesome though)
