Just returned from 1 weeks stay at the Algarb. Found the Hotel average, rooms very clean and maid service every day. The Hotel in general could do with an update, furniture old fashioned and carpets dowdy. We stayed on a half board basis and found the breakfasts enjoyable with plenty of variety but was disappointed with the evening meals, although again there was plenty of variety the food was very bland with not much choice in desserts (jelly or cake). The evening entertainment was not to our liking (mimed cabaret by hotel entertainment staff). The hotel is right next door to a building site (our balcony overlooked it) but in all fairness we were never disturbed by any noise. The hotel staff (with exception of the entertainment team who were very friendly) spoke very little English, and if they could not understand you they would just walk away from you. The pool was clean but the sun loungers were packed too close together. The Hotel is popular with the "over 65's" with a few "clubbers" not really a family hotel. Did not like the resort itself, more geared up for the young ones. Take a boat trip to Forementera, a 50 min boat trip to golden sands with turquise water, stunning. I would travel to Ibiza again but would stay in Santa Ellulia which we visited and found to be beautiful.

Just come back from a two week stay at the Algarb. The hotel itself was in a good location right in the centre of Playa den Bossa with easy bus connections to Ibiza Town and San Antonio. The public areas of the hotel need a little updating but don`t let this put you off as the rooms were basic but decent (ie, not tea/coffee making facilities and no fridge). The cleaning service was excellent as was the food with a wide selection of sea food and meats most nights. Swimming pool area large and right on the beach and had no problem getting a sunbed everyday. The hotel is situated opposite a KFC and Burger King and is by some good British Bars serving normal pub food. One called the Sports Cafe right opposite the hotel is particulary worth a visit as this is where we spen most of our time. Overall, really enjoyed the holiday, and would recommend the hotel to anyone seeking an english holiday in the sun on a budget.

Just come back from 9 nights at the Hotel Algarb and here are my opinions.

The hotel is thoroughly clean and in a great location. It is smack bang in the middle of Playa Den Bossa although there is no noise from any of the nightlife. One direction out of the hotel is a lovely walk to Ibiza town (45-60mins) and the other is a stroll through the shops/restuarants and bars.

Our room was overlooking the beach and had excellent sea views which I think most of the rooms in the hotel have.

We slept in 2 or 3 mornings and was not bothered once by the cleaners as we had put the 'do not disturb' sign up. The one negative point to this hotel is that the walls to the rooms seem to be very thin and the noise travels far. Luckily we had pretty quiet neighbours and looking at the people who stayed at this hotel it was mainly old(er) folkes and couples...so no problem with rowdy guests.

The rooms were cleaned immaculatly and every grain of sand which we carried through to the balcony was swept up.

There was an equal mix of English/German/Italian guests and the food was as to be expected. Every morning there is English sausage, eggs, backed beans and streaky bacon. Dinner has the same basics each day with 2 or 3 different mains from one day to the next.

We went half board and we was pleased with what we got. A nice bottle of wine for dinner could be picked up for £3. We got refreshments from the spar shop over the road for the beach.

We never actually went to the entertainment that was provided by the hotel deciding to venture out to see some of Ibiza. A bus to San Antonio is about 3 Euros (2 buses - change in Ibiza Town) or taxi about 20 Euros. Ibiza town is worth a visit by a nice walk/boat or a bus that leaves every 30 mins from front of the hotel.

The beach is right in front of the hotel and isnt overcrowded. The sea is a lovely colour and is pretty shallow quiet far out. I recommend bora bora beach to the young crowd.

Overall I would stay at this hotel again and not hesitate to recommend it too a friend.

Some of the reviews for this hotel make me wonder! For example, what a cheek for the hotel staff to expect you to speak in Spanish - in Spain as well!! Why would you want a mini bar in your room? Drinks are available everywhere in Playa D'en Bossa and its surely not too difficult to take a couple back to your room to tide you over until breakfast.?
We stayed here last summer, after staying at a sister hotel in Es Cana the previous two summers. I have to say this hotel is very good value for money. Unless things have changed this year, the food was always varied - something for everyone.Location can't be faulted, rooms fine (it is a 3 star hotel). We tend to go out in the evenings so can't comment on the entertainment, however we find plenty at Murphys bar, Bora Bora, etc. Three weeks and we will be back there - I expect it too be good!
