We went to the Algard 6 years ago and had a great time and thought we'd go back with out two young children this year. It seems that in 6 years nothing has actually been done to the hotel and it was exactly as we remembered it but obviously showing its age, Rooms are Ok but furniture/beds desperately need updating as not the most comfortable, door to balcony did not close properly which made it quite noisy at night and water dripped from the air con every time we turned it on. The air con in the restuarant was the same with water dripping from the ceiling most days (not the most hygenic). Outside plenty of beds but again in need of replacing as very old and uncomfortable. The pool is in desperate need of being replaced as it is not child friendly at all, there is a very small section for children and the main pool goes from being deep to being very deep in a matter of feet, our 8 year old just managed to touch the floor at its shallowist. Entertainment was not the best, most nights seemed to be the entertainment team miming to various songs with a bit of dancing, day time activities were not much better same every day, darts, pool, table tennis and attempts at water polo. the kids entertainment was very poor, the kids entertainer Ninky was very nice but explained there was very little budget for kids entertainment, which consisted of making sand castles, collecting shells, painting, needless to say we made our own entertainment most days. from speaking to various people it seems the hotel is to receive a makeover at the end of season so lets hope it's much better next year, even so I do not think we will be returning
