Fiesta Algarb Playa Den Bossa Ibiza, Spain

I have stayed at this Hotel 6 times and have enjoyed it everytime. They have a choice of half board or full board dependent on your budget. Either choice is good; the food is great with a mix of Spanish and international fare. The guest are also international mainly from europe ie UK, Germany, italy with a few other countrys there also. They are located next to the beach and a short distance from other family attractions. The hotels has animation and kids club all day long with nightly entertainment that the staff puts on. They have sunbeds to lounge around the pool or you can head out to the beach 20 meters away.

My fiance and i stayed (half board) at the Fiesta Algarb from 30th Sept - 7th October 2006.
Our room: The room was well presented and very clean. It was made up and cleaned everyday. Air conditioning worked well. Only complaint was the matressess - needed replacing as far too soft and old. Good strong shower (but water tasted very salty!!)

Communal areas were a little dated but perfectly comfortable. The dining room has lovely views over the pool and sea.
The pool was lovely, no real shallow end, but this didn't bother us. The sunbeds are very clsoe together but as it was not high season we were easily able to get two and move them to suit us - don't think it would be possibe in July / Aug. Very few children, which for us was perfect. The hotels location is right on the beach front. Not too many fish to see when snorkling, but warm and clear water.

The food is ok. I loved breakfast - lots of fresh fruit, croissants etc. Fiance enjoyed the omlettes. Dinner is a bit greasy and over cooked - had mainly cold meat and salad. Wine is great 1.30 euro a glass or 5 euros per bottle. Took a while to get served at the bar (one night took 25 mins for 1 drink). Walk along the beach either side of the hotel and there are nice beach bars for lunch / drink. Our fav was walk out of hotel on to the beach (facing the sea) and turn left. Is the first place you come to, but closed in low season. Had fabulous meal here on our last night - but they only take cash!!!! Carry on walking along the sea front and you come to the water tax that takes you to Ibiza town (6 euros return). Beautiful views of the island.

The actual area of Playa den Bossa was disapointing. There are several mcdonalds, kfc, pizza hut etc. It's very 'British' and we had been led to believe it was quite a traditional area :(

I would stay at the Algarb again, but only in a different location. I'd like to return to Ibiza (was my 1st visit) but perhaps try Santa Eulalia.

Don't bother with the day trip to Formentera - we were so disapointed. 15 euros each on the boat and when we arrived you had to pay a further 9 euros each to take a bus tour. We didn't and were very limited with things to do - public transport didn't arrive. Had a lovely walk along the beach to Playa de Illetas (5 miles) but all beach bars were closed. Beautiful turquoise water (and several jellyfish - in water and on beach) but thats about it. Nude sunbathing is allowed here - in case anyones interested!

We went to the Algard 6 years ago and had a great time and thought we'd go back with out two young children this year. It seems that in 6 years nothing has actually been done to the hotel and it was exactly as we remembered it but obviously showing its age, Rooms are Ok but furniture/beds desperately need updating as not the most comfortable, door to balcony did not close properly which made it quite noisy at night and water dripped from the air con every time we turned it on. The air con in the restuarant was the same with water dripping from the ceiling most days (not the most hygenic). Outside plenty of beds but again in need of replacing as very old and uncomfortable. The pool is in desperate need of being replaced as it is not child friendly at all, there is a very small section for children and the main pool goes from being deep to being very deep in a matter of feet, our 8 year old just managed to touch the floor at its shallowist. Entertainment was not the best, most nights seemed to be the entertainment team miming to various songs with a bit of dancing, day time activities were not much better same every day, darts, pool, table tennis and attempts at water polo. the kids entertainment was very poor, the kids entertainer Ninky was very nice but explained there was very little budget for kids entertainment, which consisted of making sand castles, collecting shells, painting, needless to say we made our own entertainment most days. from speaking to various people it seems the hotel is to receive a makeover at the end of season so lets hope it's much better next year, even so I do not think we will be returning

I have just come back from the Algarb for my 3rd year and have almost booked again for next year. i can not falt the algarb the staff are great, the entertainment team always have activites goin all day from 10AM till middnight., the rooms are quite big i share with 2 other adults and all 3 of us had more than enough room each, the view from the balcony is one of the best anywhere especially in the morning, the food is fantastic always fresh, if you come out saying you are hungary thats your own falt the choice is huge. the hotel is always clean. the pool is nice a little small for the size of the hotel and could have a bigger shallow end.

i cant wait till i go next year

We booked through well known package operator despite not having done a package holiday for over 2 years. But it was a good deal and its nice to know someone should be around to help if required. (Like when I had my wallet nicked whilst in the hotel bar! If crime is not a problem here, why does the rep have a folder full of freshly filed incident reports!)

The hotel has nicely refurbished but small rooms all with reasonable views towards the sea. However, the main areas of the hotel missed out on the modernisation but the decoration was tired but inoffensive. The main feature which attracted us was the large garden area beyond the pool but dont bank on this being there next year, there going to build some very nice apartments on it!

Buffet meals were good considering this is a 3 star budget hotel (lots of choice, good quality and regularly topped up throughout the service) and the staff where really friendly (but having our 9 month old little angel with us might have had something to do that)

The biggest disappointment was outside the hotel. Playa den Bossa looks like its been around a while but at the same time looks unfinished and lacked any atmosphere to speak of. The nearest restuarants where BK and KFC/Pizza Hut but the pastelaria did add a bit of local flair. There is no beachside promenade to the south of the hotel and beyond the Jet Apartment (apt name!), there is lots of build land yet to be occupied. This might be due to the aircraft passing so close overhead that no further building was allowed.

For us the best nights out, either to walk up to Figueretas or take the ferry into Ibiza town from next to the Torre del Mar hotel.
