Great location, right on the beach and a ten min walk on the beach from Bora Bora. Agree with other reviews, the food was repeatative but at least there was a decent selection....if you like salads, you'll love your lunch and dinner! Food ranges from stodgy to healthy and nice desserts.

It does need some moderisation, the decor is dated. We didn't have an issue with noise when we stayed there. Only pain is the lift being so so slow and very hot and it was constantly being fixed! Staff were ok, not overly friendly but I guess they were bombarded all the time at reception.

If you want to jet-ski, i would recommend booking at reception as you get a discount.

There is no entertainment at all, apart from kiddies dance lessons and such like, great for the kids but the only thing i saw advertised was bingo for the adults!. I suggest you go clubbing instead!

Most local bars are expensive but you get two for one offers. Good recommendation is Murphy's Irish bar. Found that to be the cheapest whilst there.

Overall enjoyed the stay there, but there are probably better hotels than this. Great for being right on the beach but there are others to choose from to get this also! I would stay there again, if I couldn't find anywhere else!

“Not our first choice but not a bad hotel”

Good points - clean rooms, comfortable beds, excellent beachside location with calm sea water and no rocks; pool area kept clean; sea-facing balcony; breakfast not too bad.
Bad points - *very* noisy hotel as there is litlle sound proofing; very noisy cleaners who think nothing of slamming all doors possible and dragging furniture across the floor. BRING YOUR EAR PLUGS!

Pls be aware that Grupo Playa Sol Hotels make a habit of booking your room in one hotel then moving you to another! We were moved to Hotel Algarb after having booked and reconfirmed our 2 bedroom apartment at the Jabeque (which is closer to Eivissa), also part of the Grupo Playa Sol Hotels. After much negotiation, we were given 3 hotel rooms at the Algarb for our group of one couple and two singletons. This is in stark contrast to our other friends who arrived at a different time, didn't negotiate, and were moved from a 2 bedroom apartment to a 3 bed hotel room for one couple and one singleton!

As we now did not have the kitchen facilities we booked, we worked to get the breakfast included and a discount off our stay. Breakfast was a repeated combination of English and Continental styles - the only change made each day seemed to be the sausages, which would swap between British and Continental every other day. I had a peek at the lunch buffet a couple of times and it seemed to be standard caffeteria food. This may be okay for some though, as the area does not offer many quality choices for food!

I never had a problem with security and didn't worry about leaving my bags by the sun lounge at the pool while taking a dip in the sea. A safe is available for about €18 per week.

I would not recommend this hotel to families as I imagine a family would want somewhere a little more peaceful and not overfun with British teenagers/twentysomethings (I was there for party season). All in all a good hotel (though NOT what I booked), however I do like to have the option of having a peaceful sleep on my holiday if I so choose!

One more point - Unless you are a partygoer, it is probably best not to book a hotel any closer to the Bora Bora Beach Club end of the beach.

I would hesitate in booking another of the Grupo Playa Sol hotels for the sheer fact that they think nothing of transferring you to another possibly inferior hotel, as they also did last year with my friends.

“Hotel Al Grub”

Hotel Algarb

13 Jul 2008

We didn't intend to stay here as we'd made a booking with an alternative GPS apartment but for absolutely no reason we were told on arrival we had to go to the Hotel Agarb.

We were 'upgraded' to get all inclusive, which meant that our opinions are slightly enhanced by the free food and drink, served from 11am to midnight by some exhausted looking but usually friendly staff.

Generally the hotel is very basic in appearance and in need of modernisation and new furnishings in the common areas. There's a musty smell, though I have found this to be common with cheaper hotels.

The rooms are very small with two beds as standard but it is possible to get a third in (though I really wouldn't recommend it - you can end up getting cabin fever!). There's a TV with 3 English language channels (Sky News, BBC World News and Eurosport) and lots of other European language channels. You have to rent a remote control. Each room has air conditioning which works only with the balcony door shut, though of the three rooms we had one of them had faulty aircon which made it unbearable at night. The beds are small and uncomfortable and you might find it nice to take your own pillows, some of our party wished we did! The bathroom is clean and simple with a detachable shower head and ok water pressure. Each room has a safety deposit box but as with the remote control you will need to rent this. Almost all rooms open with a magnetic key card though one of our rooms did have a normal key.

There are three lifts but they are hot, slow, small and often not working. The restaurant is self service and often features the same food over and over again (chips, pork in butter, breaded chicken and tinned ravioli appeared to be quite frequent) however they do offer a large range of dishes so a typical family/group shouldn't be too disappointed. The entertainment is hilariously terrible and takes place just by the bar. I would avoid planning my night around it but do take a peep when you're on your way out.

Outside there is a bar that's open until 5pm and an ok swimming pool. With lots of One of the hotel's biggest benefits is how close it is to the beach but the stretch of beach it's on is somewhat.. tacky.

Be warned that this hotel is noisy and the walls between the rooms are like cardboard, very thin cardboard.

The clientèle at the time of my visit was a very interesting mix of mainly Italian, Spanish and some British tourists - groups of young friends and families. As someone from the UK, I found it nice not to be in a place that was exclusively the accommodation for other Brits.

“great hotel NO ENTERTAINMENT”

Hotel Algarb

22 Jun 2008

Just returned from holiday. The hotel has the best location in the resort. On the beach and away from the Rowdy section . Transfer time from the airport was 5mins by taxi about 11 Euros. The hotel was good, rooms good, Restaurant good and clean but menu VERY REPETATIVE . We understand it is no longer a Fiesta hotel and not in the Thomson brochure now, The ENTERTAINMENT was non existent one night it was advertised as FOOTBALL on T.V. in the RED LOUNGE. Another night one of the staff gave dancing lesson for 30 mins... the highlight could for some have been the Bingo..

This hotel is a lovely clean building, a bit old fashioned, the staff work hard to make you welcome.

However, do not expect to get any sleep at night time, this is perfect for the clubbers out there, but not the average sunseeker !

The breakfast that is provided is of low quality, not the best start of the day.
