“Good holiday enjoyed by three generations of our family”

I have just read the most recent review that has been placed regarding the Hotel Algarbe and I have to disagree on most points made.....My family have stayed here several times the most recent last summer....and none of us could fault the Hotel. yes I agree in places its like quite a number of the three star Spanish Hotels and could do with a little modernisation, but as for the food, we could not fault it there was something for everyone, rooms we found very clean, beds comfortable, and staff very helpful, anything they could do to help they would....

I think the place speaks for itself as it has many customers like ourselves who return year after year......

We will be returning once again this summer

Just returned from a week here, you get what you pay for, basic food, practically the same everyday, rooms ok beds not comfy at all no mini bar . Maids were very rude constantaly knocking on doors even when do not disturb sign was put up, and making us move out room for them to clean, also expected us to speak spanish??also cleaning was not very thorough .The location probably the only good thing about the hotel.Found the staff on reception and in the restaurant very rude , very bad attitude , never smiled when asked a question replied with blunt answers or did not even look up, having never experienced this before in a hotel we were surprised.agree that hotel needs a complete overhaul including new staff!

Just came back from a 2 week stay at the hotel. The hotel is lovely, cannot complain about the hotel in general just the entertainment and the steps going down to the pool. The only way down to the pool is by a flight of steps which is hard work if you have a buggie or wheelchair (This is not mentioned in the brochures). Entertainment is poor and needs reviving.
The rooms are lovely and clean and the beds are big. We had a room facing the pool and the beach which was great.
There is building work opposite the hotel, which was a shock when we got there but after a few days we forgot they were there and it didnt ruin our holiday.
There is plenty of choice in the restaurant and you cant complain about the fresh meats every day.
ONE TIP IF YOU ARE GOING, TAKE THE ALL-INCLUSIVE CHOICE- 17EUROS FOR ALL DRINKS AND LUNCH AND 12EUROS FOR JUST DRINKS per person per day. Its well worth the money as drinks are quite expensive. We saved a fortune.
The hotel is right on the beach. (Watch out for the italians, nightmares, dont like sharing lifts and sit on your laps around the pool).

Fiesta Algarb Playa Den Bossa Ibiza, Spain

I have stayed at this Hotel 6 times and have enjoyed it everytime. They have a choice of half board or full board dependent on your budget. Either choice is good; the food is great with a mix of Spanish and international fare. The guest are also international mainly from europe ie UK, Germany, italy with a few other countrys there also. They are located next to the beach and a short distance from other family attractions. The hotels has animation and kids club all day long with nightly entertainment that the staff puts on. They have sunbeds to lounge around the pool or you can head out to the beach 20 meters away.

My fiance and i stayed (half board) at the Fiesta Algarb from 30th Sept - 7th October 2006.
Our room: The room was well presented and very clean. It was made up and cleaned everyday. Air conditioning worked well. Only complaint was the matressess - needed replacing as far too soft and old. Good strong shower (but water tasted very salty!!)

Communal areas were a little dated but perfectly comfortable. The dining room has lovely views over the pool and sea.
The pool was lovely, no real shallow end, but this didn't bother us. The sunbeds are very clsoe together but as it was not high season we were easily able to get two and move them to suit us - don't think it would be possibe in July / Aug. Very few children, which for us was perfect. The hotels location is right on the beach front. Not too many fish to see when snorkling, but warm and clear water.

The food is ok. I loved breakfast - lots of fresh fruit, croissants etc. Fiance enjoyed the omlettes. Dinner is a bit greasy and over cooked - had mainly cold meat and salad. Wine is great 1.30 euro a glass or 5 euros per bottle. Took a while to get served at the bar (one night took 25 mins for 1 drink). Walk along the beach either side of the hotel and there are nice beach bars for lunch / drink. Our fav was walk out of hotel on to the beach (facing the sea) and turn left. Is the first place you come to, but closed in low season. Had fabulous meal here on our last night - but they only take cash!!!! Carry on walking along the sea front and you come to the water tax that takes you to Ibiza town (6 euros return). Beautiful views of the island.

The actual area of Playa den Bossa was disapointing. There are several mcdonalds, kfc, pizza hut etc. It's very 'British' and we had been led to believe it was quite a traditional area :(

I would stay at the Algarb again, but only in a different location. I'd like to return to Ibiza (was my 1st visit) but perhaps try Santa Eulalia.

Don't bother with the day trip to Formentera - we were so disapointed. 15 euros each on the boat and when we arrived you had to pay a further 9 euros each to take a bus tour. We didn't and were very limited with things to do - public transport didn't arrive. Had a lovely walk along the beach to Playa de Illetas (5 miles) but all beach bars were closed. Beautiful turquoise water (and several jellyfish - in water and on beach) but thats about it. Nude sunbathing is allowed here - in case anyones interested!
