Arrived at Pelican Bay off the boat from Athens. Arrived two hours early and the room was not ready so they gave us coupons for complimentary drinks from the pool bar. The receptionist also upgraded our room so that we would have more space to spread-out with our young daughter. The room was nice, clean, modern and had a great view from the two balconies. Breakfast was fantastic. The pool is great. Lounge chairs, umbrellas and tables are available. The walk to the beach is five minutes and there you can go to a number of restaurants and bars.

The hotel is conveniently located less than five minutes away from the beach. Its rooms are spacious and very clean. Staff is upmost helpful and genuinely pleasant. Breakfast buffet is served both indoors and outdoors on a terrace. Proximity to the bus stop allows easy access to town without having to worry about a cab. The pool is huge and there are always clean towels.

“4 star hotel with a 2 star attitude”

Pelican Bay Art Hotel

9 Sep 2007

Upon check-in we were told that the three hotels rooms had been robbed recently. Great way to start our trip. The hotel desk staff was mildly helpful. When we asked Angelo if there was laundry service he simply replied "no." My husband asked where we could get laundry done, he again simply stated "out in town." Gee, thanks! What a big help. I also inquired about where to find a salon in town and he said, "just ask around when you get there." We also inquired about the water taxis, no one told us what the schedule was.

Our mini-bar was empty, there were ants in our bathroom. This hotel was a disappointment for the price. The beach that it is near is small and the chairs are one on top of another.

I recommend staying in/near Mykonos town or near Paradise or Elia beach.

Everything about our stay at the Pelican Bay was perfect; the attentiveness of the staff, the cleanliness of the rooms, the overall good taste in the decorations, the spectacular views from our balcony, the sumptuous breakfasts, the proximity and access to the town, etc...

If and when we visit Mykonos again, I hope to stay at Pelican Bay!

“a huge potential but hardly exploited”

Pelican Bay Art Hotel

19 Jul 2007

Accommodation: rooms have a good size and they are clean which are the minimum you can expect in a four stars hotel. You have a nice view with a small balcony. The rest is pity. No minibar, just an empty fridge; The TV is from the previous century and the bathroom is really basic. No attention to details here, it is as convenient as you could expect in a three stars.

Infrastructures: the hotel has a huge potential. Lobby, main building, restaurant and all terraces are beautiful. You have a nice and big gym club just below the swimming pool very well equipped. This hotel has the potential with some improvements to become a five stars.

Food & drink: no restaurant but a snack close to the swimming pool. Food is less than basic, beverage are terrible. Do not ask a glass of wine, you will get a small bottle of Greek wine unknown in Greece with a plastic top. If you are desesperate for wine in Dublin or London, it is exactly that you get in a any pub. If you are dreaming about a mixed fruit juice, you will get here a bi mixed made with kiwi and apple in a country were you can find the best orange and lemon in the world. Breakfast is average, no fresh juice fruit, which is a non sense in Greece.

Services: a good hotel is a place where you feel at home. To get this felling the key point is the quality of people. Basically, Pelican Bay Art hotel has missed completely that. Working conditions are probably not good and as client you can feel it. Forget the usual kindness of Greek people here. More importantly most of them are not professional, they are not from the catering industry and the tourism industry at all. In seven days for 38 rooms, I saw two different people working in the snack, breakfast and swimming pool. Three people were at the reception which was open 24 hours day and four different people were in charge of cleaning rooms and other staff including the kitchen. Difficult in these conditions to get the service that you will expect in a four stars.

Swimming pool: the place is nice, the terrace close to also. The quality could be increased dramatically with somebody in charge of details. Strangely, the place is often empty despite a small size in relation with the number of rooms.

Activities - Other services: in all four stars and five stars we came before in Mykonos, internet was accessible for free and hotels could organise for you different activities. Nothing like that here, internet will be charged €3 per hour and you have access to only few information books written in German mostly.

Prices: in a summer time, a standard room is €240 the night including breakfast. It is the price you will pay to the: Thraore of Mykonos, a small and very nice five stars hotel. You will need €170 to the Estraco suites for a four stars closer to a five stars. Definitively, it is overcharged for what you get here and for the location. The hotel is four kilometers from Mykonos town.

Globally, I will not recommend this hotel. It has a huge potential but hardly exploited. It is a very average four stars closer than a three than a five stars.
