“Arona Gran Hotel”

Spring Hotel Arona Gran

18 Apr 2008

I stayed at the Arona Gran hotel last July with my sister for a week. I had a pleasant stay and thought the hotel was extremely good value for money.

The bedroom was of a good size along with the balcony. I thought the selection of food available in the restaurant was fantastic and catered for all tastes.

I do agree that the majority of guests are slightly older (my sister and I are in our 20's) however we found it a really nice place just to relax and unwind. Please also remember that the hotel is located in Los Cristanios so it is obviously going to be 'very touristy!'

In all, I would recommend it to others who are looking for a relaxing holiday. The hotel and area surrounding it, also has excellent facilities for those that have walking difficulties or use a wheelchair.

“Not reccommended for anyone under 65”

Spring Hotel Arona Gran

18 Apr 2008

The initial impression of the hotel on arrival is that it is elegant and stunning. On closer inspection though it feels a bit dated and faded grandeur spings to mind. The pool area felt more modern and was very nicely laid out. The average age at the hotel was around 65 and up and the entertainment day and night was aimed at this age group. Sitting in the entertainment area felt a bit like sitting in a retirement home! The food was the same everynight. I was not impressed at all. Fatty meat and sludgy veg .. although others we met loved it.
The hotel advertises itself as being in an excellent location. I'm amazed by this! The hotel is next to grubby disused office buildings crawling with cats and a broken shabby promenade to the town. The town is a bit of a building site and is run down and tatty. The beach is a pile of dirty rocks with the odd abandoned crane!
On a positive note though. The staff were lovely and the place was very clean, pools were warm and the atmosphere was very relaxed.
Luckily we met some lovely people and had a nice break but it is safe to say I wont be going back.

“Excellent, Fantastic Hotel!”

Spring Hotel Arona Gran

13 Apr 2008

Absolutely super hotel...

Pools were fantastic, really big, heated as when we were there it was a bit cloudy and cooler for a couple of days, but we still sat outside! On the very hot days it was beautiful! Lots and lots of sunbeds, so really easy to get one... some towels were out early and we just wanted to lie in so some days we had to move sunloungers around the pool to remain in the sun!!

Food was brilliant, lots and lots of selection, always great salads and fish and meat to choose from. 10/10 There's something for everyone from chips to cooked meat and fresh fish. Breakfasts were served til 10 - pleanty of time.

The hotel itself was beautiful, clean, tidy, marble, very very classy!

Rooms were fantastic, nothing out of the ordinary, clean, tidy, lots of british channels on the tv - no tea and coffee machine, but that wasn't expected - could easily purchase in the pool area.

Evening entertainment was average, nothing fantastic, but nice, there's a lovely big lounge area outside of the evening entertainment room, and that was super to sit and chill out at - read books or play pool, theres 3 pool tables!

You did have to pay for the gym and sauna though, and book the sauna for an hour - its something we didnt do though.

Location - wonderful! walk through the hotel gates by the pool and you're on the walk way alongside the sea front... the beach isn't sandy, you can't sunbathe right there, but a 15 min walk to the other side of LC and theres a man made beautiful beach. LC was lovely to walk into - 10min and you were right int he centre, lots of lovely littel shops, mostly commercial, restaurants, not many bars (this isn't a night club/time place)

Right next to (and I mean next to) the hotel is the weekly sunday market - its beautiful! wonderful experience, packed, its sooo busy so get there early and then we went again when they were packing away to get some dirt cheap handbags!! haggle away!

the hotel was suitable for all ages, there was a huge mix of ages of people, not many childern, but then we were out of season!

myself and my best friend (mid 20s) wanted a bit of nightlife, so we'd go into Playas - the first night we walked it (took 2 hours with a half hour cocktail stop in the middle) i wouldn't walk it again, but it was great just to wlka alonside the seafront, and there are lots of tourists around, it felt really safe! the hotel suggested a walk to the bus stop and get a bus in, but i have to say it was a bit of a walk - a good 20mins walk to get a bus to get to Americas...

also went with my parents (mid 50s) and they rented a car so tehy drove us in, took about 7 mins by car, if that, and then we got a taxi back - the hotel was ace too they'd call a taxi if we wanted - a taxi back at 2am cost about 9 - 10 euros (again this is out of season)

oh and when we got back to the hotel at 2am, we had to swipe cards to get in and there was a security guard there always making sure we could get in - he became our friend after a week!!!

it was a fab compromise becuase we had a beautiful quite hotel in the day and night life was in playas if we watned it!

there's an iceland (spar type shop) that sells pretty much every little snack thing, so get bottled water from there to drink and there's fizzy pop, salad snacks, biscuits and some frozen food if you're in apartments - reasonably cheap - it matched english prices!

Definitely go back, it was wonderful , worth every penny!!!

This hotel was advertised as on the beach, this was a joke, there was no beach just a bunch of rocks and graffiti on promenade walls, nearest beach was a good 15 minute walk and that had construction on it! Hotel was clean but a bit dated, food okay, staff were polite. Not enough sun beds, we watched a woman walk round for 20 minutes to no avail. More suited to the over 60s. I have never seen so many motorized scooters - you can apparently rent by the day! Don't think we will be going back in this lifetime even if we do make 60.

“Lovely Arona Gran”

Spring Hotel Arona Gran

We stayed in the Arona Gran at Easter in 2007 and decided to return this year. During the winter the hotel had undergone a complete refurbishment and the pool area had been redesigned .Some work was still in progress when we arrived. The hotel had made sure that the work did not inconvenience guests.

This hotel is well managed and the staff throughout the hotel are friendly and offer a high level of service. Meals in the restaurant are excellent with a wide variety of choice and nothing is too much trouble for the chefs.

What makes this hotel special is that everyone cares about making your holiday a good one. The hotel has excellent facilites for the disabled and there are many wheelchair users evident.

The bed rooms are comfortable and very clean.

We love the Arona Gran and will be returning again next year. It is a wonderful Hotel in which to recharge the batteries.
