“Lovely hotel - shame about the manager”

Los Jameos Playa

Just got back after staying one week during half term. The hotel is lovely but we had a few problems. The room we booked was too small and could not accommodate us (2 adults and a child) so we had to get a family room for which we were charged an extra £140. One evening we went to our room and found we had visitors - cockroaches to be precise in the bedroom and bathroom. It was late in the evening but the staff were very good and came immediately. The hot water had also
gone a dirty brown colour and the next day the assistant manager offered to upgrade us to a junior suite with their compliments. We said we would rather just move rooms and not pay the £140 for the room we had already upgraded to.

Unfortunately the family rooms that were available also had a problem
with the water so they had to upgrade us to a junior suite to get a room with clear water. The assistant manager told us not to worry about anything as he would get everything sorted. Also the only difference between the family rooms and the junior suites were a fully stocked fridge (which you paid for), a kettle in the room, a dvd player and bathrobes and slippers. Size wise they were the same. As we were all inclusive we had no need of a fully stocked fridge as we could bring up drinks from the bar for free. Also we did not use the kettle or the dvd player.

When we went to pay our bill we found we had been charged the £140 anyway. The assistant manager was off duty for the weekend and the manager appeared. How this woman ever got a managerial position in tourism is beyond me. She was SO rude and insisted we pay the £140. I
tried to explain what had happened but she said she knew and that we were now in a junior suite so we had to pay for the 1st upgrade. i tried to explain that the other family rooms also had a problem with the hot water but she would not listen to me and just said "I am the director here and you will pay the money" and then she walked off. No
apology for our problems and totally unsympathetic. The reception staff were so embarrassed and quickly came over to apologise to me, telling me she was the most difficult person to deal with and that she was extremely unpopular with the staff and the guests. We later found out her nickname was the gestapo lady - good public relations for the hotel don't you think!! I shall definitely be writing to the CEO about her.

Apart from the manager the rest of the staff were most helpful and polite and could not do enough for you. The food as stated in other reviews is excellent for an all inclusive hotel, not a lot for true vegetarians but the chefs are willing to cook something special every
evening if you let them know you are a vegetarian.

There are two main pools, one cold water and one heated which is ideal for young children as it is a walk in pool and is shallow for a
long way. Also the beds are all around the pool so it is easy to keep
a watch on the children whilst still relaxing.

If you would like any more information please feel free to email me.

My wife and I stayed at Los Jameos Playa for a week from 30Sept.It is an excellent hotel, well run hotel with helpfull staff. The food was fantastic ,such a well cooked wide selection for breakfast and dinner.Although it is a large busy hotel,at the time there was room for all who wanted to ,to sit by the landscaped pools or in the gardens that have areas of palm trees and giant cacti. There are shops and resturants nearby ,one resturant I can recommend is El Molino .There is a huge beach nearby and Puerto del Carmen is just over 30min walk along the promenade

October 7-14
Just returned from a week in this hotel, it was a wonderful experience...fabulous gardens and pool area, very clean, very helpful
staff, we would have preferred a room overlooking the pool and gardens as our room was to the back of the hotel also no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but the room was very nice and restful
great air conditioning. The food was very good, we had all inclusive.

This hotel is definately one of the best on the Island. Its rated 4 star but in comparison to hotels such as Beatriz, its just so much better. I've stayed in lots of different places in Lanzarote but this is one I will be going back to. Great food, great location etc. It has such beautiful gardens and pool area you won't want to leave.

we have just returned from a very enjoyable time at this hotel.i emailed the hotel requesting a specific room number with the balcony and view i wanted and on checkin was allocated this very room. the rooms are a little dated but dont let this put you off because this is a very good hotel. the food selection every night was unbelieveable, a week of this food would require some serious gym time on returning home. we had our 16 month old son with us and nothing was too much trouble for them. the kiddies disco every night was well run and overall children are very welcome at this hotel.on our last day we asked for a late checkout which we got at no extra charge which was a nice touch because most places will sting you for this service.
all in all a very nice hotel with beautiful gardens and pools. rooms are dated but are very clean. i will return to this hotel in the near future...
