Just got back after staying one week during half term. The hotel is lovely but we had a few problems. The room we booked was too small and could not accommodate us (2 adults and a child) so we had to get a family room for which we were charged an extra £140. One evening we went to our room and found we had visitors - cockroaches to be precise in the bedroom and bathroom. It was late in the evening but the staff were very good and came immediately. The hot water had also
gone a dirty brown colour and the next day the assistant manager offered to upgrade us to a junior suite with their compliments. We said we would rather just move rooms and not pay the £140 for the room we had already upgraded to.
Unfortunately the family rooms that were available also had a problem
with the water so they had to upgrade us to a junior suite to get a room with clear water. The assistant manager told us not to worry about anything as he would get everything sorted. Also the only difference between the family rooms and the junior suites were a fully stocked fridge (which you paid for), a kettle in the room, a dvd player and bathrobes and slippers. Size wise they were the same. As we were all inclusive we had no need of a fully stocked fridge as we could bring up drinks from the bar for free. Also we did not use the kettle or the dvd player.
When we went to pay our bill we found we had been charged the £140 anyway. The assistant manager was off duty for the weekend and the manager appeared. How this woman ever got a managerial position in tourism is beyond me. She was SO rude and insisted we pay the £140. I
tried to explain what had happened but she said she knew and that we were now in a junior suite so we had to pay for the 1st upgrade. i tried to explain that the other family rooms also had a problem with the hot water but she would not listen to me and just said "I am the director here and you will pay the money" and then she walked off. No
apology for our problems and totally unsympathetic. The reception staff were so embarrassed and quickly came over to apologise to me, telling me she was the most difficult person to deal with and that she was extremely unpopular with the staff and the guests. We later found out her nickname was the gestapo lady - good public relations for the hotel don't you think!! I shall definitely be writing to the CEO about her.
Apart from the manager the rest of the staff were most helpful and polite and could not do enough for you. The food as stated in other reviews is excellent for an all inclusive hotel, not a lot for true vegetarians but the chefs are willing to cook something special every
evening if you let them know you are a vegetarian.
There are two main pools, one cold water and one heated which is ideal for young children as it is a walk in pool and is shallow for a
long way. Also the beds are all around the pool so it is easy to keep
a watch on the children whilst still relaxing.
