I booked this B&B as a stopover based on the only review on TripAdvisor (at the time) by the biker from Taunton. I reasoned that any owners who helped put bikes away and hung out wet clothes must be caring people and their B&B would be good.
We weren’t disappointed. Dianne gave us the choice of rooms and we chose the huge front bedroom purely because it was great to have so much room to walk about in after being cooped up in a car for hours. We weren’t bothered about noise from the market setting up, as we just left the windows open and shut the shutters. The room was very clean and delightfully quirky in the decoration and furnishings. Nothing seemed to match but it didn’t matter, it just added to the charm of the place. The washhand basin is in the bedroom behind a screen. The shower is very small, but fortunately I didn’t drop the soap, so didn’t need to bend down!!
As per the previous two reviewers, we also ate in the brasserie just over the road. The food was excellent and the staff all very friendly. Breakfast was the usual croissant, bread, jam, yoghurt and juice with a cup of tea or coffee. Chateau du Loir is a nice little town to walk around and we were able to buy some sandwiches on Saturday morning from the local supermarket to take with us on our journey for lunchtime.
This is a keenly priced B&B which will not disappoint you unless you want somewhere modern.
