We just got back from spending 3 nights in a 5 bedroom villa with my husband's uncle and his family (Villa 84). The villa itself was above average. The beds could be softer and the a/c in our bedroom didn't work that great but it seemed to work better in some of the other bedrooms. We had a butler, George, and a cook, Bernice. Bernice was great. Everything she cooked was great. The resort is very big so they give you 2 golf carts to get around. Our villa had it's own pool but there are other pools on the property that you can use too. The resort has its own dive shop/watersports center, equestrian center, golf course, tennis courts, spa, putt putt golf course, etc.,- plenty of things to keep you occupied and having fun.
The town of Montego Bay itself did not seem that nice. I've been to many other Caribbean islands and thought that M Bay was the worst of all of the others. It didn't seem like the shopping would be that good or that they had many restaurants that I would want to venture into.
My recommendation is that if you want to go to a resort that has everything and not leave the resort, then Half Moon is for you. If you want to go somewhere where there would be nice dining, shopping, and prettier beaches, then go to Aruba, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Barbados, Puerto Rico, or the Caribbean side of Mexico.
