On our tour of south Italy we had 5-6 days in Sicily and one of our targets was Etna. We looked at the map and Linguaglossa looked like a good stop due to it's proximity to Etna.
Tourist Information gave us a list of accommodation and Il Nido dell'Etna (The Nest of Etna) was our first stop.
We were greeted by Luigi, the owner (who's English is much better than he thinks it is) who showed us round his very modern, up to the minute technology, very well finished Hotel.
We speak a little Italian but for those Brits and Americanos who are planning to visit Etna Luigi's English is a major bonus as even in the Tourist Information office we had to use our basic Italian. What I'm saying is, if your not on a guided tour and doing this on your own (as we did), English is not understood. So go and see Luigi.
So we got this lovely (very modern) double room with a fantastic view of Etna, great food and an excellent wine list. Next morning there was a substantial breakfast on offer.
There is also internet access available here (again rare in this area) and Luigi knows the area well (pointing out there is an excellent golf course nearby).
Luigi and his family made us very welcome and I highly recommend this hotel for people who need a stop over at Etna. This is THE place to stay.
