Los Pueblos Apartments

we stayed in these apartments in room 319 in late march/early april for 15 nights.
now let me tell you, this is a real review from real everyday people who want a cheap and chearfull holiday, just like you!
well, as we pulled up to the complex we thought it looked too good for what we had paid, although after carrying heavy cases down two flights and then up another we arrived at our room.
not too bad for size but very basic, it almost reminded us of something from the seventies.
anyway, like i said, we only wanted a base to sleep that was secure and clean. although we would have cooked if we had the basic tools like dishes and a two ring hob that both were working!! anyway, no cockroaches were seen, only a small family of ants which were the very small no trouble types.
after looking round we noticed we had a great view of the sea and part view of the very cold pool(only the one pool), which i only noticed used a couple of times, maybe due to the lack of sun the first week we were there (very unusual)we were offered a safe at a cost of about 30 pound our money a week, a tv at about 5 pound a night and a fan at some other rediculous price, we declined as the security is very good(camera on reception door and night watch man).
its a good ten mins walk down hill to the port which is great for trips ect, on the walk down stop at a little cafe bar called tipsys for great food and drink from a proper yorkshire guy called steve! also from the apartments a two min walk to a nice little place down the slope to montana tropical, a little area with a great british bar called british bull dog., if you want a good bit of nightlife or a good beach you need to go to playa grande, its about 25 min walk or 3 euro in a taxi, its a massive strip of beach on one side and clubs and pubs and shops on the other.
to sum it up, puerto del carmen is great for everyone apart from the less mobile, the apartments were not great, oh yeah, our bed sheets were never changed in 15 nights!! but if you can get a cheap deal and like us just want a safe place to stay its a bit over priced in the complex but theres plenty to do and see in puerto del carmen.

“Happy Holidays”

Just spent an excellent week at Los Pueblos and would definitely return this time of year, 2 adults and 3 young children - I was a little apprehensive after having booked and then reading the reviews but my fears came to nothing. Large appartment, 2 floors, 2 bathrooms/ balconies with sea views - yes it could have been more exquisite but for 2 stars all we wanted was a base with friendly staff and that's what we got. Bar and reception staff absolutely went out of their way to make it a good holiday.
No oven or microwave - 2 rings. toaster and kettle and taps that seemed impossible to turn at first - if your happy to do most of your eating out or at the bar (and it's cheap enough - 3 euros buys a kids meal that's adequate for 2 of them) then you'll be fine, Do try Marios right facing the back of the hotel - we didn't try this gem until the last night - 50 euros bought 2 good courses and a bottle of wine & soft drinks for the 5 of us - best cuisine I had all week. Also highly recommend the Volcano tour and the futuerventura boat cruise - excellent days out - you'll need your sea legs for the choppy ride back though. We'll definitely return - something for everyone, nice quiet hotel but 10 minutes from the main strip on foot if you want it. Chilly evenings though - take a fleece for after sundown, despite that we've all got golden tans from the comfortable sun every day.

“Nice staff”

Booked last minute on www.budgettravel.ie, it was supposedly on €279.00, but with taxes, late booking charge, etc etc it ended up being €310 pps which is still very good value for flights + accom 1 week.
The reps from Budget were rude & just seemed fed up in general both at arrival & departure - we we're not very impressed. On the other hand the staff at Los Pueblos were great. They spoke Spanish, English & even German & Swedish.
We have friends on the Island so didn't spend much time at the hotel, but what I can say is the following:
Rooms are simple but clean. We got a 2 bedroom apartment for the 3 of us. Little kitchenette for cooking, but as grocery store are very expensive & restaurants so cheap I do reccommend eating out. There are to grocery store very close to the hotel, 1 min & 2 min away (The closest one belongs to the Flora Hotel, but the Marcial Supermarket is part of a chain & has a much better sortiment - there is a lot of English/Irish food available so no need to bring stufff from home if you can't go without your usual diet)
Towels were changed & beds made up twice, although I think everyone else has it done three times. Pool area is very nice, although for those of you that haven't been on Lanza before be advised that the pools are very rarely heated & we are talking FREEZING water here! There were not that many peaople around the pool during the first days but towards the end people seemed to have gotten friendly with eachother & there was a lot of chatting. Seemed to be mostly Irish guests.
Reception staff will help you with socket converters, maps & tips of things to do. I wouldn't reccommend to hire a car throught the company they recommened as it is too expensive in comparison to other companies providing same cars & services. Try Cabrera Medina for a company that has middle range price, but always offer superb services.
As for location the hotel is on the top of the hills at the 'beginning of Puerto del Carmen'. As mentioned in previous reviews it is a bit of a walk to the beach, or rather going home, but the taxi fare is only €2.60 to the old town & aroung €3.00 to the Playa Grande so it's not really a prob.
Night life was a great dissappointment as I Used to live on the Island & it used to be hopping! All the locals were commenting on how tourism has gone down & how the clientel has gone from young party people to a more old & child orientated public. It's a pity as there R so many great bars, disco's & clubs, but as it is now there's about 10 pax in each one of them meaning there's no particular place to go if you're looking for a proper lively night out.

What I did stumble across is a newly opened place called 'La Ola' right next to the Casino on the 'Avenida' (main street). It has a brilliant Asian decor, and instead of chairs there are Beds (an amazing wooden 4-post bed among others), a pool to chill off in, and it is all literally on the shoreline so the mellow music is accompanied with the break of the waves & you obviously have a stunning view. There is a big covered area if you need shade... They serve drinks & have a full menu with good 1 jug Sangria + Paella offers for €6.95, and there's even a guy from Barcelona called Daniel who has his masage stall there which means you can get free 10min head & neck massages - (he's very good at what he does - I ended up paying for 45min €30.00 & 75min €55.00). It's really the perfect place to hangout from the morning right through to the end of the evening. HIGHLY recommended.

Booked Los Pueblos via Last Minute Cheap Bookings. (You get what you pay for!!) Apartments exceeded thier 2 start ratings, we certainley got more than we paid for. Apartments quiet, clean but not too far a walk from lovely restaurants and good nightlife. We were never awakened with noise, bar music or bin men (according to previous reports).
View is fantastic. We arrived at night to a pitch black view from our balcony, in the morning all we could see was pure blue seas. Staff Excellent and all very friendly! Bar prices competitve! All in All an excellent stay !
