Stayed in Plaza Azul over Christmas 2007. Overall the apartment was barely OK , was expecting a bit more based on reviews from Tripadvisor. Apartment was generally clean if you don't look too closely !! . Our apartment had a window facing the street , which was very noisy at night and early in the morning (single pane glass). We didn't have an apartment next to us ,but could hear a lot of moving around from the apartment upstairs. Our towels were changed twice in the week. Bed clothes did not fix as another review wrote , which brought me closer to the very musty mattress than I would ever want to be. As it was December , these apartments are absolutely freezing at night .
You can tell by the decor that this place is fairly old and has not been renovated in a very long time, it has that 1970's feel about the place . We didn't have any problem with the staff , and found them courteous at all time . If I was looking for a place to stay again, I would honestly try somewhere that was build more recently.

We booked this as a last minute winter deal, after reading the reviews (which some werent very favourable) we were of course a bit apprehensive but when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised! Apts were in a good location, just up from were we stayed before which was a stroke of luck as didnt realise this when we booked so we knew were everything was in that area.

Apts were basic but clean, maids were in 4 out of the 7 days, only downside was the sound proofing in the apts were terrible. we were on the ground floor & could hear everything going on upstairs and next door, from the guy snoring during the night upstairs or to someone going to the toilet next door...not very pleasent!!

The grounds were nice and the pool was nice & big (freezing though!!)

I have been to Lanzarote 3 times before and really enjoy it, the restruants & nightlife are great for people who like to go out and have a good time but not be over run by lager louts and club 18-30 groups!

Only thing that would put me off going back to these apts is the sound proofing! Weather was fantastic for nov a little cold in the evenings but they doesnt matter as you will be in the pub by then!

I must say I was disappointed with the apartments, the pool was cleaned better than our rooms!!!!, the apartments are exactly what they say they are 2 star.

Our bed linen didn't actually fit the beds, towels had seen better days and the cleaner only took 5 mins to clean. We arrived and walked into our apartment to find no electric, we reported it at the reception and the maintenance man (who seemed also to be a cleaner) came and looked, removed the fridge to discover a pool of water which had obviously got into the socket, he plugged in an extension lead across the kitchen (which was dangerous!! good job we had no young children) and said he would return the next day, never came back for the 2 weeks we were there.

The day we were leaving 23th August 2007 we had to vacate the room by noon, we were still in the apartment at 11 o' clock when the cleaner came into the apartment and started to strip the beds etc, ready for the next people, we sat on the balcony and I couldn't believe the basic cleaning that was done, she didn't even check the kitchen cupboads, just changed the beds and towels, whipped round with the mop and that was it.

Having been to Lanzarote for a number of years these were the worst apartments I have stayed in, but with a lot of work and cleaners who actually clean if could be ideal, it is in an ideal spot, close to the beach, restaurants and nightlife but far enough for it to be quiet.

We arrived at the plaza Azul in good spirits after what we had read on the review sites, stating that the plaza azul is a great place to stay ,believe me this is a total lie! When we arrived we went to our room which was on the ground floor, the entrance to the apartment was through patio doors which were totally unsafe and could of easily been broken into. The apartment was in complete darkness due to there being shutters on the windows. i took my shoes of ready to unpack and within 2 minutes my feet were covered in dirt, the floor obviously had not been cleaned for days. When i went into the bathroom there were cigarette dimps in the toilet that someone had obviously tried to flush away, the bath had all shower gel inside so this had not been cleaned. As i opened the cupboards to look at the plates and cups, we realised that the cups had been used as ash trays and had not been cleaned. The plates and cutelry were dirty with food remains on them, the glasses had mouth marks around the rims it was disgusting. The towels were also not clean the whole apartment was a complete nightmare. A tent on the beach would be a better place to stay than here! Anyway we didnt even get to spend a night here as we complained straight away along with many other people and we were moved to different apartments across the way. i just thought i would warn people that the plaza azul is not the place to go if you want a nice clean apartment!!
