We have just spent an amazing two weeks in Villa Alondra in Lanzarote. The villas were by far superior to anything we have stayed in before.
The cleaning service was excellent. Beds were changed every second day as were the towels. Villa was very spacious and inlcuded a washing machine plus dryer, tv, DVD player and video, microwave, oven, fridge freezer. The only comment I would make is that you need to take your own t-towels and cloths etc, as there was nothing there to wipe down with or wash up with i.e. washing up liquid. There is a interior airer for your washing, but you are not allowed to take this outside or indeed hang any washing outside ( as we found out when we did this!!).
The pool was cleaned daily, filled and water checked etc. Staff very polite and courteous.
I was sent a present of dried fruit on my birthday, which was a very nice touch.
The villas are a good fifteen minute walk from the old town of Puerto Del Carmen DOWNHILL!! Would definitely recommend a taxi back up. They are very cheap and on average cost about 2.65 euros to get home. The busy strip of the newer town has become a little too comercialised for us and we spent the best part of the fortnight in the old harbour town. There are many good restaurants and a square of english bars showing footy, if that is what you want.
Weather was better than we had hoped for. Topped 30 degrees on most days. There is a nice strong breeze that blows across the island and you definitely need it on the hot days. Evenings were comfortable with no need for a cardy!!
In the villa you could hire an air conditioning unit, but to be honest we didn't need to.
Supermarkets are pretty close, but again on the down hill walk. We hired a car and was glad, especially doing the supermarket runs.
Had a day out at Rancho Texas Park, Would DEFINITELY recommend this. Cost 14 euros per adult and we had a magnificent day out. It is similar to a zoo, but is the cleanest attraction I have every been to. Displays by birds of prey, parrots, sealions etc are brilliant. There are white snow tigers there, puma cats.......... You just have to go. Value for money and they don't rip you off with the food and drinks.
Just in case you have the unfortunate event of needing the local hospital (which we did). The doctors speak good english and the hospital is spotless and very quiet!!
All in all, probably the best holiday we have had in years and would recommend the villas. Very quite, private estate with 18 villas in total. We stayed in number 17 and had no problems whatsoever.
We booked through Style Holidays and they would appear to be cheaper than Thomson.
