Having read a number of reviews on the Alondra Villas, suggesting the Alondra Suites are much better, we booked a holiday at these lovely suites for the first week in May 2009.
We we not disappointed. It's not often that the marketing pictures and the reality bear any comparison, but our Suite looked EXACTLY as pictured on the Alondra Suites website and brochure! Rather than ramble on, as I often do, I'll keep it brief:
Two Bedrooms, One King Double, One Twin room. Both ensuite, with own TV (limited English, we saw ITV, Ch4 and 5 with poor picture quality. Enough to keep up to date with the news, but not to watch....but who wants to on holiday?)
Small Kitchen area, Hob, M/Wave, Kettle, Toaster, Coffee maker (no filters, take some), D/Washer (no tablets, but you can ask for them) that is open plan and leading on to dining table and huge living room area. Two Comfy sofas and coffee table looking out of floor to ceiling windows on to your own pool.
External, very cleverly laid out with each pool area in walled in, but not overly high. Pool area not overlooked and quite private.
En suite bathrooms are open plan on to walled in garden area, giving you the feeling of showering or bathing outside, but actually inside. Excellent, twin basin bathrooms with separate wc.
The villas themselves form a complex of around 10, all with their own car parking and private feel, even though they are fairly close together.
50 Metres from the complex, is a Pool Bar/Restaurant and larger pool. We didn't use the pool, but it looked fine, the main reason we visited was for the Restaurant.
A small, but beautifully formed menu, with excellent wine list (including large visible wine cellar) and exceptional staff. They tried everything they could to ensure that you meal was first class. Not the cheapest meal, but two of the best we ate all week. I can heartily recommend the Red Tuna Loin, €18 of sheer bliss!
The location is a fairly stiff, 15 minute uphill walk from the Old town/harbour area, but only €3-4 for the lazy nights. It's just off the main route from the Airport LZ40
We had one problem during the week. The lovely outdoor, indoor shower had a wall to keep it private. Unfortunately, there is some very quiet and unobtrusive construction work going on next to our Suite (23). They happened to be building a wall next to our villa and the workers could see directly in to the shower. My partner was NOT amused. As they went home at 6, we just waited until they had finished to use the shower, but I promptly went down to reception to ask what could be done. I very politely stated our concerns and the lady was immediately understanding and informed us they would put up additional screening the next day. When we returned from our day trip the following day, there was a delightful coloured screen blocking any vision of our showering in place. Excellent Service.
NOTE: This construction is due to last throughout 2009, but they have gone to a lot of trouble to keep the disturbance down to a minimum. Only 4-5 workers, no heavy machinery, very little use of power tools and none at all before 10:30. They operate the usual siesta from 11 til 2 and finish promptly at 6.
we spent nearly every day at our villa and only noticed the works for the first day, pretty much tuning it out afterwards.
The ability to have your own breakfast, when you want it, sitting at your own table in the sun, before moving on to your own sun loungers (with movable canopy if required) and soaking up the sun, taking a dip in your own pool without any hassle from any other holiday makers is a truly fantastic holiday! Alondra Suites didn't let us down in any way and I highly recommend them to anyone with a more grown up holiday in mind.
