“Beware of thieves”

We booked this Hotel as my partner and her Mum had stayed there previously and had always enjoyed it. We requested a high floor which was also on the Cosmos booking form, however, when we arrived we were put on the floor -2!! We did eventually get someone to help us with our cases but it took a while and the reception staff were surly to say the least.

I complained about the rooms and was told that we could change if we went back after 9am the following morning.

Foolishly, and being Brits, we said that we would put up with it as "we aren't people who complain". The view from the rooms is a concrete wall with a 15' high fence on top separating the hotel from the rest of the resort.

On the Saturday morning we awoke at 7am and decided to open the oppressively heavy door to let in some air and light!! At 7.15 a thief walked into the room where we were lying in bed and stole my partners bag from the table!

There were 2 bracelets in the bag so we gave chase, by the time we reached the door, the thief was over the huge fence and away.
Reception showed very little interest and gave us a phone number to call which was an ansaphone in Spanish!

Following a bit of a row, the Public Relations Manager, Maria, helped put me through to an English speaking policeman who took details including, for some reason, my parents christian names. He then gave me a crime number which i had to take to the local Police station within 2 days to get another crime number to give to my insurance company. After waiting at the Police station in sweltering heat for 45 minutes, i asked the Spanish lady in the queue before me how long she'd been there, she said over an hour! At this point i gave up prefering to spend the day by the pool with my partner who was very upset by the whole experience.

I would suggest that this is a deliberate tactic by the Police on Tenerife to make their figures look better.

So we lost a couple of hundred pounds worth of jewellery and can't even claim for it!

On the other hand, the hotel was clean and tidy and the food was the best i've ever had for variety and taste, just be prepared to refuse to stay on the -2 floor unless you want to keep the door locked at all times, even when you are in!!

“A little bit disapointing”

H10 Gran Tinerfe

28 Apr 2008

When i arrived it seamed very nice hotel. Reception staff spoiled all my impression in 2 minutes. They were very snobby to me. Fortunately i got to my room in 5 minutes and was very happy. I was alone but i got double room with balcony and sea view although when i was booking the room i was promised standard room with no balcony. I didnt really pay big atention to furniture (maybe it was a bit old) because things like this are not very important to me. When i started unpacking i noticed that my clothes are very creased and i started looking for iron but i ended up not finding one. Instead hotel offered ironing services. I sent almost all my clothes to iron and i got them only after one day which was very disapointing.
When i first went out for a dinner i was very disapointed. I didnt see any young people. I was alone there and all those pensionaires arround me. I just felt like running away. Food was ok. Not mych variety but since i'm not very fussy i didn't mind.
The host of the restaurant was always very unpolite to me although she was always very nice with anyone else.
Since i was alone on holiday i didn't really want to go out at night on my own so i stayed in and watched few shows in the hotel. They were absolutely disgusting. I couldnt understand how hotel can pay money for something like that.
The best part of this hotel is pool area. It was always well looked after and with plenty of space to rest.
It is located very near to the beach and hundreds of small souvenire shops. There is casino on the gound level as well.
I wouldnt recomend this hotel to young people because it doesnt offer any activities and entertiment for this age group.

“Liked this hotel”

Stayed at this hotel with my 78 year old mother and 15 year old daughter and after reading some of the reviews we were expecting the worst, instead we were very happy with the accommodation. My mother had a lovely room to herself with a balcony and was only 2 doors away from us. The communal areas were all clean and inviting and the rooms were the same. Though the reception staff could have been happier, the restaurant staff were all wonderful but the buffet could have been laid out better and the food a little hotter.

My daughter had a good time in the three wonderful swimming pools which were kept clean at all times.

The only negative comment I would make is that my mother has walking difficulties and found the steps down the the beach area difficult so I would not recommend this for disabled people.

“A Super Hotel”

My wife and I, both around 60 years of age, stumbled across this hotel for a weeks winter sunshine break. And what a stroke of luck it was booking this hotel. On the entrance to the hotel there is a Rotary International sign which, whilst not being a member, gives a general indication that the hotel will be reasonable. Other reviews descibed the hotel as dated, and whilst this is true in some respects, it now has the feeling of a traditional hotel with traditional standards, sucha s being shown to your table by a waiter and not allowing beach style wear in the restaurant. PLEASE DON'T CHANGE IT. The Reception Staff were curteous, helpful and friendly and the hotel was very clean with daily cleaning of the rooms and service areas. The Restaurant gave an exeptional choice of food which was plentiful and of a high standard with a considerable number of choices from it's buffet style serving areas making us spoiled for choice at each meal. The nightly entertainment consisted usually of a two piece "band" and an hours interlude by a cabaret act. The entertainment was varied and interesting and usually of a good standard. The hotel offers a considearble range of facilities, three pools, tennis, pool, table tennis,TV lounge, smoking terrace and smoking room and being situated right on the beach, arrangements were made by the hotel staff for games such as archery, boule and others on the beach on a daily basis.
All in All, I would highly recommend this hotel to any one, perhaps the younger element may want more "night life" than is offered her.

“The Worst Hotel We Have Ever Stayed In”

Having stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels all over the world, including H10s, to say that this is four-star hotel is really stretching the imagination. (Maybe a 3*)(With a following wind)

Upon arrival I was amazed to find no one to help with the luggage, no one at reception and when we did attract someone’s attention we were informed that the room would not be ready for an hour or so (We arrived at 1.30pm). Two hours later we found our room complete with sea view (Had to argue about that even though we paid the premium). The smell from the bathroom was appalling; we were informed that it was due to the recent rains???? Whets that all about?? In fact the whole hotel stank of fish and rice, (I know its popular in Spain) the furnishings were run down and repaired badly, Beds very uncomfortable and the bathroom only just adequate, at least the shower curtain was clean.

We stayed on a half board basis and wish we never had, everything is buffet, shocked to see elderly and infirm people wandering around with boiling cups of tea and coffee, after the first diner service, (A rugby scrum and very limited choice and zero service)(breakfast is no better, possible worse), we decided to eat out every night, Average bill £45.00 quite expensive after 6 nights, and we had to run the gauntlet of touts every night.

All in all, a very poor hotel, badly in need of major renovation, it is about 30 years old and looks it. Shabby, down at heal, and the service is pathetic, reflecting the overall feel of the place, Try and get someone to bring you a drink at the pool or in a lounge, not a chance....

Location is good, easy walking distance to numerous bars and eateries, would we go again?, a definite yes but not to this hotel, Not even to visit a friend...
