Pros: Beautiful landscaping, good drinks, nice pools. The ice cream shop is yummy and the shopping convenient.

Cons:This hotel is huge!! Plan on walking 30 minutes from one end to the other. The buffet and lobby are located on one end and the beach on the other. They do have a trolley but it rarely went by and you may have to wait in the sun. We did not have any place to cool down except for our hotel room (which had ants, hard beds, tiny pillows and a nasty bathroom that smelled like urine in the shower). The lobby and restaurant did not have A/C. It was way too hot to be walking everwhere with no relief from the heat. They expect the men to wear pants at the reserved restaurants, but it's so hot and when you get there... still no a/c (Tropical Restaurant). The food is not that great. The breakfast was the only decent meal. Also, make sure you bring mosquito repellant. I come home with 20-30 bites.

We were at this same location 3 years ago. Had a wonderful time as a family of 4... with 2 teens. Here go my ideas and tips for anyone considering going here. My college student enjoyed the Disco. It had moved to the shopping center since our last visit, if you are looking for its location. Mayan people are wonderful host, yet they make so little money. We found tipping at the sit down resturant door a way to not have to eat buffet every night. $10 will get you a nice table anywhere, any night, and a big smile from a worker at this hotel. But go ahead and make as many night reservations as you can with the "dinner lady" right after you check in the hotel. Many rude drunks and obese people at this resort, but it is all inclusive, after all. Some ladies should keep their tops on but this is only an issue at the beach. Only a few women go topless. Pools do need some tile repair but the flora and fauna make up for it. Check out the ALL white peacock.

Very nice location, open lobby and walkways, and nice beach hotel. Located in Riviera Maya, 30 minutes away from the party town of Cancun. Good food at the restaurants, two swim up bars and snack bar on beach. The only thing negative was that the bed was hard as a rock. Other than that, the rooms were nice.

Very family friendly all inclusive resort with 1/4 mile long swimming pool/waterfall/hot tubs. Beautiful beaches with white sand and turquoise/blue waters. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Premium restaurants were good - strongly recommend dining at the Mediteranean and having either the salt-crusted breem or the sea bass. Brazilian was okay, but no different that what you can find elsewhere. Gourmet was good, but not nearly as strong as the Mediteranean.

Positive experience except for the drinking water - Montezuma's revenge hit everyone in our party at least 1 day (and as many as 4 days). Not sure if it was from tap water or from vegetables. Bring lots of Immodium.

We have just returned from the Iberostar Resort in Mexico, south of Cancun. We stayed 5 nights. The resort is a 30 minute ride south of the airport. We have traveled many times to Cancun and really enjoy the Playa del Carmen area. Last time we stayed right in Playa del Carmen and could walk to the 5th Avenue shops. This hotel is a $20 cab ride each way, about 20 minute ride if it's not rush hour. We took the shuttle from the hotel the first day we went into Playa del Carmen. I read about the shuttle on tripadvisor. We had to walk to the front of the resort and then cross the busy 4 lane and walk down the road a bit to the shuttle palapa (hut). All locals use this shuttle. The van was packed and we we're jammed into the last row of seats. Then we hit rush hour traffic. Definitely a good deal for $2, but we took a cab the next time.
Resort is HUGE. Very nice beach, lots of palapas to sit under. Water was rough (red flag) but people we're swimming. They did a good job with activities, staff was very nice. Food was adequate, although my husband got sick for a few days...? Didn't care for the Mexican restaurant. Liked the Japanese! The trolley that they have to ride you from one end of the resort to the other doesn't seem to run very often. We ended up walking most of the time. Luckily our room was halfway between the beach and the restaurants. Beds were firm, just right for me.
If your worried about whether or not you made the right choice in this resort, don't. I have been to many all inclusives and this one is a good. one, just a lot of walking.
