We just got back from the "Grand" on Saturday, May 17th. After traveling to Mexico several times I can honestly say this was one of our best ever vacations! This in part was due to all the previous travelers who wrote to "Trip Advisor". Thanks for all the advice.....if it wasn't for all the comments we would never have picked the "Grand" to stay at.
If you are looking for a vacation which offers you: challenging golf, exercise with a personal trainer or tennis on wonderful courts, yoga, wine tasting, wonderful food (you don't need huge portions), 24-7 service, massages by the beach, comfy lounge chairs (or beds), an awesome spa pool, premium drinks unlimited and hard working hotel staff this is the place for you.
Just don't forget to bring singles and tip the staff!!!. They work so hard and we saw soooo many guests that did not tip! They deserve a dollar or two!
Also if you plan on going buy a cheap raft and put it in your suitcase. While you sip on your Grey Goose and Vodka drinks you can float on top of one of the wonderful pools!
Enjoy...we did...oh and don't forget to write about your experience. It really does help when choosing a hotel!

“Wedding at the Grand”

Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso

We had our wedding at the Grand on May 10th and it was perfect. First, the resort is absolutely breathtaking. I can't believe the beauty of this resort. My new husband and all of our guests kept commenting how great everything was.

Upon arrival we were upgraded to an oceanfront room with jacuzzi on the balcony. (Room 7040). It was an amazing room and view. Our butlers-Victor, Gaspar, Marcelo, Oscar went above and beyond to make sure all our requests were taken care of. These guys work extremely hard to make sure everyone's stay is a pleasurable one. They don't expect anything in return but of course our last day there we tipped them to let them know that without their extra help our stay still would've been incredible, but they made sure everything was perfect...I really can't say enough about these guys.

Our room was great, the bed is so comfy. The shower often did a hot and cold routine but it was only for a few seconds and it was over. My aunt and cousin who were staying in another room had their hair dryer catch on fire the first night but the butlers acted quickly and extinguished the flames. They promptly called housekeeping and cleaned up the mess from the extinguisher-they offered to move them to another room but my aunt declined saying as long as everything was cleaned up they would stay in the room. Housekeeping was there within minutes!

We had a large group of 40 staying at the Grand for our wedding. We did large dinners a couple nights and the restaurants were very accommodating. The service was top notch and the meals delicious. Everyone's favorite restaurant was the Surf and Turf and Japanese.

Our wedding coordinator-Maritrini and her boss Gemma were excellent. Maritrini met with me several times before the wedding to make sure everything was how I wanted it and even met with my mom the day of to go over final details. She was amazing and so helpful!!

The star friends are so friendly and fun. They knew our names before we even knew who they were! The nightly shows in the coliseum are great! Also the lobby bartendar Rigo makes fabulous drinks and is so nice. He definitely works hard!

I can't say enough about the people, food and beauty of this resort. You must see to believe. I had seen several pictures before we arrived but nothing replaces seeing it in person. It truly is Grand!!

From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, everything was perfect. The hotel is gorgeous and the views are breathtaking. Did I mention the best part? It is adults only! There is a quiet and relaxing tranquility pool, or a salt water pool with a swim-up bar. This is where my friends and I spent our time. The people who work at this hotel are the best I've encountered. They treat you so well and help make your trip special. I especially enjoyed the water sports and dancing lessons with Chris and the others. All the restaurants that I tried were excellent. Evening entertainment consisted of shows in the theater, karaoke and a disco in the shopping center. Speaking of the shopping center, call your credit card company to let them know you are going to Mexico because you are going to want to purchase some jewelry! We only left our hotel for one afternoon/night in Playa del Carmen because truly everything we needed was right at the Iberostar Grand!

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at the Iberostar Grand, and grand it was. We have traveled to this area many times and have stayed at the Lindo several years ago. After reading all the reviews we were excited to go. I have never had a place meet the expectation like this place. Everything was just perfect. I called ahead for a request for a third floor room as we had booked an oceanfront room. We arrived around noon and our room was ready. We also requested dinner reservations in advanced and they were confirmed upon arrival. There was a fruit basket in our room when we arrived. As has been mentioned many times before the room are very nice probably the nicest we have been at. The pool chair game was in full swing. It was not hard to get a chair in the sun, but if you wanted a covered area then you had to get to the pool before 8:00 a.m. Only at the saltwater pool, not at the fresh water pool. Our butler took very good care of us. We had several during our 5 night stay. Anything we asked for was taken care of. We got a ride on the golf cart several times per day and they were fast and friendly.. There have been several complaints about the food here and people need to realize they are not in New York or anywhere else in the USA. They try very hard to have authentic American food. It was very different from what we are use to, but not bad. The quality was not bad at all. There is always something to eat there. The shrimp was my favorite. Tony's was our favorite restaurant. We are from Texas and we are steak lovers and the fillet was very good. On our actual anniversary night they filled the tub with bubbles and rose petals and put the swans made of towels with a rose on the bed. It made for a very special anniversary. This was such a great trip and the only thing I would have changed is I would have gotten private transportation. We went through apple and we waited over an hour to get a ride to the resort and it took 2 hours on the bus to get to the airport.. It would have been worth the extra money to only make a 20 minute ride there and back.. We use edventure tours one day and they were great also. We went to Akumal and there really isn't much of a reef there, but we saw several different species of fish and several turtles. The cenotes were our favorite. This resort was worth every penny and we would not hesitate to return to the Grand.

“What a fabulous hotel The Grand is - best hotel so far”

Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso

We simply love this hotel - we have been to Mexico 5 times before and have always stayed at the Iberostar - usually The Beach or Del Mar and they were nice but we decided that this year, we would book 3 nights at The Grand as a treat and WOW.

We often read the reviews on trip advisor and whilst we have never posted before we are very grateful that others take the time and go to the trouble to share their experiences.

We cannot fault this hotel (and we are pretty choosy). The restaurants and the facilities are first class. We have an Ocean Front Suite in building 71 and feel so pampered - everything from the Butler service ( they explain everything on arrival and stock your minibar with alcohol of your choice) to the restaurants - so far we have eaten at The Steak House and The Japanese Tepanyaki. The pool area has lots of spare beds despite being 90% full at the moment and the beach view from our balcony is to die for. There is a jaccuzi whirlpool bath in our bathroom and there are separate "his" and "hers" sinks in addition to the shower and WC areas. The Hotel is spotless and all the staff very friendly without going over the top.

We appreciate efficient service without it being too intrusive and The Grand has exceeded our every expectation.

In short, I think this stay will have spoilt us for life - I didnt know this kind of luxury was available at this price.

We would stay here again without hesitation and cant wait to come back.
