Myself, Wife and daughter aged 9 have just returned from a weeks stay at the Panorama hotel. Most of he hotel is justified by its 5 Stars with spacious clean rooms and beautiful views. We had booked a junior suite, which was by other standards big. We stayed on a half-board basis, and were advised that you can upgrade to all inclusive, having previously done this at another 5 star hotel, we decided not to do this, which we later found out to be a good choice. Most of the staff at the hotel were friendly, some of the reception staff couldn't be more helpful, two require a bit of further customer management training. On 3 occasions we overheard customers argue over their bills, maybe a bit to much to drink on the night, as one gentleman insited he DID pay the waiter for the 7th round of drinks. The food selection is good, great salad selection and a reasonable variety for the main meal, although after the second day of eating salads, we did notice an abundance of flies crawling over the cold meats, salads and fresh fruits, the hotel could do with an extractor to combat this. From then on we stuck to the cooked selections which were always piping hot and freshly prepared, although over the week a bit repetative. The dining room is spacious and there were never any problems with being served, the staff were very good and cleared the tables very quickly after each course. A limited but varied wine selection was available from the bar and our average was about 23 Euros, although there was the house wines available, at about half this price. The sweet selection was excellent. The food did get a little boring after a while, and as I previously mentioned eating there all day was not a good option. We tended to travel into Kos Town for lunch where we had variations from the Fish Corner to the Italian Restaurant amongst the tourist area, great pasta. There was a severe lack of entertainment at this hotel, there was only 'one man and his organ' (someone tell him he can't sing), stick to playing the organ. There was no atmosphere in the evenings. You can use any of the other three hotels facilities which we visited and soon left. There seemed to be a little more atmosphere at these hotels and a bit more rowdy. At the Kos Bay the health and safety people would have had a field day due to the poor lighting around the pool area and although also supposed to be a 5 star this was questionable. As we were leaving the Kos Bay Hotel we were advised that you could actually cross the road and enter the Panorama at the 6th floor and take the lift down to reception, this side of the hotel was not very good and the security was non existent as we walked through the hotel unchallenged, therefore so could anyone else. The pool area is good and our daughter loved all three pools, although plenty of sun beds, the Hotels ruling of not booking a bed was clearly flaunted and we found ourselves on several occasions without a sunbed and having to wait until they returned from the bars and vacated them without having been used. Lots of Germans staying here so the pool bar was constantly surrounded, and if you didn't have that little band on, then you could have quite a long wait. The adjacent taverna bar was good for light snacks and the odd drink. On an evening we went down the hill and left into the little Taverna, better atmosphere! The hotel mini market sells soft drinks, and most other items , all at quite competetive prices even compared to some places in Kos Town, also a good price on water shoes if you intend going down to the sea. The " beach" area is not good as there is no sand, it is pebbles and hurts to walk on, we walked along the "beach" towards the now disused water park but gave in on our return and used the roadway instead. MY TRAVEL representation and Customer Information (No notice board and out of date manual) was very poor, so beware.Coach transfer very prompt and only about 40 minutes. Overall, I would say this hotel is of Great Standards certainly worth the 5 Stars as far at the quality of rooms, appearance and staffing is concerned just not a great Location, We do like a relaxing holiday but prefer to have some sort of Night Life, (not clubbing or drinking all night) but a selection of eating places, entertainment a little nearer to hand. As I mentioned we previously stayed at a Five Star Hotel in Jandia before it became all inclusive, we returned two years later after it changed to all inclusive and we found the hotel and staff attitudes had changed, I hope this does not happen here. With a little more varied entertainment to keep the customers happy and this could be the Ideal holiday hotel for all.
