When you arrive here, you have to go up a narrow wooden staircase to get to the rooms. It is VERY narrow and awkward for me (5'11", 180lbs) to get up and down.
We paid $5 for our room. I think it was over priced. We requested a twin but got a double but were too tired to complain. The room was dirty, TINY, and the mattress was totally rock hard. There was barely enough room around the bed for us to put our rucksacks down. I had a cushioned sleeping bag so slept on that.
Also, our room was at the back of the hotel, near the generator. Dont reckon on being able to sleep with a huge generator chugging away only a few feet from your ears. And when it goes off then there is NO electricity. The shared bathroom was acceptable.
There was a restaurant of some type downstairs but my friend bought a sandwich from there and complained that is was inedible.
Only good thing was its close to where the boat stops. Not a great deal of choice in Pak Beng, but some of the people on our boat the next day sounded they had a better standard of accomodation.
