“Nice Hotel”

Talardy Hotel

3 Apr 2007

We stayed in the African themed room for my partners 30th Birthday night. The room was lovely, very spacious, quiet.
We ate at the restaurant within Talardy, which was nice food but I feel slightly overpriced.
We did have a lovely time, the only complaint I did have was that the top covers on the bed were dirty, stained with what looked like blood. I didnt complain that night, I just removed the cover as the sheets seemed to be clean yet I did complain to the receptionist upon check out the next morning but she didnt seem to be interested, didnt apologise & continued checking us out, which I did find bad customer service.

I haven't stayed at this hotel as yet, but I went along to the wedding venue which was hosted there this month and was extremley suprised by how super it was and have booked my civil wedding and reception to be there in July 2008 and cant wait. The staff were all pleasent and went out of their way to help, I looked at the numerous hotel rooms which were excellent and have decided that the Roman Room would be my ideal honeymoon suite. All I can say is if you book to stay here you will really have a fabulous time.

My wife and I stayed at the Talardy with another couple in Feb 2007. It was absolutely fabulous. We stayed in the Modern Contemporary suite and our friends had the Old China suite - both rooms were immaculate, expansive and luxurious. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel - a wonderful high quality pub lunch in the chestnut pub, followed by a quite superb chateaubriand in The Cellars restaurant - accompanied by a pianist. It was great! The level of service was excellent, particularly from Jeff who ran the restaurant. Great personal service, very jolly and amusing without being overbearing. Lovely beer -good selection of high quality wine and champagne - great food - super rooms - excellent service. Well done the Talardy!

I was looking forward to a weekend in the Old Chinese Suite. Tad disappointed. Whilst it seemed ok at first, on closer inspection it was pretty dirty, the dust accumulated around the windows was very thick and lots of dead insects which showed quite clearly that the cleaning is haphazard. The jacuzzi bath was not used as it looked dirty too, and the water took ages to drain away. Surprised that one of the best rooms in the hotel is directly above their function room, the noise from a wedding party was so loud we had to play CDs at full volume to mask the disco. Ordered a morning paper, it was still sitting on desk at reception at midday despite me asking several times if it was mine, in the end I had to just take it off the desk myself! Would have fed this all back when checking out, but had to wait so long at reception for someone to come and take our payment, I just wanted to get out. On a positive note, the gentleman who checked us in at reception and the staff in the bar were very friendly and helpful, but it did not help the feeling of disappointment on leaving.
