My husband and I recently stayed at Tan-yr-Onnen for 5 days and can honestly say that we have never stayed at a better establishment anywhere! We have travelled extensively and have stayed in a variety of hotels and B&Bs but have never received the service nor the kindness that we received from Sara and Patrick. Sara and Patrick have certainly made a point of making their guests feel at home and very special.
Our breakfast every morning was individually prepared according to personal preferance. The breakfast room was bright and sunny and arranged so that there was sufficient room between tables allowing privacy if it was desired or a shared experience with fellow travellers. We met people who were from our home state in the US and had an enjoyable time sharing experiences.
Our room was more spacious than most very expensive hotels provide not to mention the impeccable cleanliness. I wish I could write a similar review for the other B&Bs we stayed at during our recent stay although they were very pleasant there simply was no comparison with Tan-yr-Onnen.
Congratulations Sara and Patrick for a top class establishment ! I hope we'll be able to return one day.

Stayed at this wonderful Guest House with my husband an 2 children aged 2 and 8. The accommodation was fantastic. A lovely spacious room with patio doors onto a terrace. The children were made very welcome and they enjoyed their stay too. The breakfast was unbelievable, different breads, cereals, full welsh, fresh salmon. If you choose this Guest House for you stay in North Wales you will not be disappointed. EXCELLENT!!

I visit North Wales quite a lot to visit family and used to always stay in Travel Lodge style places as they were easy to find and book. Then on my last trip i fancied a change, searched the web and came upon Tan-yr-Onnen... and what a find it was! i will certainly be using it again.

It's in a great place, easy to find and very close to the main A55 (but not too close that you can hear it!).

The rooms are excellent - a very good size with modern decoration throughout. Very nice.

And as for the breakfast... what can i say! The choice was fantastic: cereal, toast, croissants, yoghurts, fruit and a choice of 2 hot breakfasts on top! I went for the full Welsh breakfast which was expertly cooked - not greasy at all.

The hosts are lovely as well - really chatty and friendly, they make you feel at home straight away.

I don't have any complaints at all. Except for the fact that I somehow managed to miss the resident woodpecker on his visits to the bird feeder.

  • Liked — The rooms, the breakfast, the birds on the bird feeder
  • Disliked — I honestly have nothing to write in here.

What a fantastic B&B - the 5 star rating given to this B&B is fully justified - the rooms are perfect in every way - the whole property is immaculate and the service is impeccable. The hosts, Pat, Sarah and their Girls are all lovely people and make you feel very welcome and is if nothing is too much trouble.

I cannot rate this property highly enough other than saying that we visit this area to see family each and every year and now we have found this place we won't be staying anywhere else.

Property is a little bit off the beaten track next to the A55 and not in the main town of St Asaph, if using Sat Nav the exact position is N53.260032, W3.408189

  • Liked — Quality and cleanliness of accomodation
  • Disliked — not walkable to a shop for the morning papers

I stayed at Tan-yr-Onnen for 1 night whilst on business in the area. I can honestly say that it was probably the best B&B I have ever stayed in in 16 years of business travel in the UK. The other guests were on holiday and I'm sure enjoyed their stay as much as I did.
