If you are going with kids, you will like it there. I loved the food and mostly the pools. They have two fantastic pools next to each other. One particularly for kids. I have a 4 and a 6 year old and both are average swimmers. The small pool was excellent for them.
The room we got was quite dark because it was situated right in front of a huge tree on the east side of the hotel. They do have other rooms that are equipped with kitchenettes and a small living area, but it really depends how much time you’ll spend in the hotel.
The service and the staff were pretty friendly and polite. 5 stars for them :)

I visited West Garda Hotel with my girlfriend in September '13. It's a fantastic hotel. It is 100% worth the money and reasonably priced. Good location 5 minutes from the lake, and close to some restaurants in town. We had a great room with a balcony and a double bed that was very comfortable. The service is very relaxed.. when we wanted privacy we got it and when we left for the day or a few hours the housekeeping staff always made up the room. The room was also very clean.

They have two swimming pools, though we never used them. The hotel itself is reminiscent of an old Italian villa with courtyards and lots of green areas. The wifi worked great in the hotel room. The coffee at breakfast was great.

We are already planning another trip back to this hotel!

We have spent a week in this hotel this summer and we really enjoyed it. Not very crowded and it's location with big green lawns and lots of trees, made you feel like being in a corner of paradise. After reading the comments we were expecting to arrive in a modest place, but we were nicely surprised. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was nice and clean but don't expect something spectacular. By the way, pay attention to the bottles of water in the fridge as they are not for free even though there is no price list in the room (maybe they put one after or visit as we complained about it). TV in the room could be changed as it is really tiny. Breakfast is modest but you can still eat decent - loved the fact that you could boil your own fresh egg in just a few minutes and the fresh fruits. As for dinner, we did not find the restaurant appealing and therefore we did not eat there.
Swimming pools are really well maintained and during our stay were not crowded at all. I think this hotel has a good value for the money, I would definitely go back and recommend it to my friends.

Room tip: Ask for a room with lake view. At breakfast, ask the waiters for a cappuccino or espresso (for free). They will make a real one, and you won't have to use the automatic machine in the dining area. Make sure you have a car to drive around as you are quite isolated.

Don't expect highly model one. This hotel is "Old fashion" but very clean, with big rooms suitable for families with kids, surrounded by big and green lawns, very pastoral, 2 nice swimming pools and most important thing, not expensive.
We stayed a family of 4 in a big room with one double bed and 2 tween beds, the room was divided into 2 separate area but with no door in between them (what could have made it perfect) and all in all was very comfortable.
Location is a bit off main sites but if you have a car it is not a problem. 5 min drive from Desenzano, 20 from Sirmione. Location can be advantage as it is in a very quiet area.
Staff is very freindly and helpfull.
Breakfast buffet is great, way more than just a continental breakfast.

We stayed here at the beginning of October 2011. We had an family apartment which had two bedrooms, one with one double bed and the other with two single beds. It also had a living room-kitchen with a big fridge. All necessary plates, pots and pans were there. There was a really small television and the picture quality was BAD. The room was clean and spacious, but maybe a little plain and ascetic... Two out of three night lights were broken. We didn´t get much light into this apartment since the only window on ground level was a tiny one in the livingroom/kitchen area. The bedroom and bathroom windows were actually really small near the ceiling since the ground raised behind this building.
I think the smaller rooms that are closer to the main building get a lot more light.
It wasn´t cheap, but the hotel grounds made up for the faults in the apartment.

Pets are allowed but at a ridiculous price of 10 euros/dog/night...

The pool area is huge and absolutely beautiful! Bring your own towels, since it is not allowed to bring the ones in the rooms to the pool. There is also a great children´s pool, not for very young children though (ours were 6 and 7 at the time and it was great for them).

The breakfast was nice. You have to boil your own eggs, which just do not work... At some point we had to wait at least 15 minutes for a refill for the ham and cheese.

It is not very close to the lake, maybe 15 minutes walk (and uphill to the hotel) but with a car it is not a problem.
All in all this is a very nice, clean and quiet area. We would stay here again.

I've stayed here many times for working reasons. I really love this place. Rooms are large and clean. Confy beds. Great Food. Not very close to the lake, but if you don't mind walking for 15 minutes you'll get to the beach easily. You need a car in order to get to Desenzano or visit the rest of lake area. I would certainly reccomend this place for a peaceful vacation.
