Fantastic location in respect of lake, straight out of hotel onto the lake, few minute walk to ferry port. We were full board. No shops to speak of, so you have to get the ferry to other towns, Salo was a fun cycle ride or good walk approx 45 minutes or a short ferry ride. We used the cycles from the hotel well worth a go. We found the rooms very poor quality, torn curtains, cracked and broken floors, stained lampshades, sockets hanging off the wall. BUT the views were stunning and sitting on the balcony with a pre dinner drink or night cap you couldnt have had a better spot. Generally staff were friendly and the entertainment fun but not in your face. The patio area in the evening was relaxing and again views and proximity to the lake I dont think you could beat at any other hotel. Communual areas comfortable. Everywhere was clean - spotless. Dining room was clinical and like a large staff canteen, very noisy and the food disappointing luke warm but we didnt go hungry, the puddings were the best part of the meal and great choice. Good veiws of the lake from the dining room. We were not able to get a coffee in the dining room at lunch or in the evening which was disappointing. We did raise the matter of luke warm food, no coffee and faults in our room but were told it was stanadard policy not to offer coffee in the dining room at these times and that the food was always hot! we were then sent to coventry by reception and resteraunt staff which was a little upsetting. Sunbeds on the lakeside, in the grounds and pool at the front of the hotel were chargeable, use of indoor pool was chargeable. We used the pool at the back of the hotel and had no problem getting sunbeds. However the first four days of our holiday the hotel was not at full occupancy and it was very relaxing, the later part of the week it was full and we did notice a difference the dining room very noisy and you might stuggle to find a table. Lots of Germans. The staff were all very hardworking and the hotel was in fab location for lake and very clean. Watchinghcing the fishermen in the evening while enjoying the music from the bar and a drink after a day of exploring Salo and sunbathing by the pool - perfect! Poor food, room and no local shops or bars. Having said all that would probably visit again!
