Just returned from 2 weeks in the Caribe at Es Cana and I would go back tomorrow, this resort is gorgeous and a must see for families and older couples, its so smart and clean and beautiful on an evening. We went to Es Cana 5 years ago and always wanted to go back and I loved it even more the 2nd time, we stayed at the Caribe this time and the hotel and its facilities are 5*, the only let down is the size of the rooms and wardrobe space. The food is great with a good selection and it didnt feel repetitive at all, I am a picky eater and never struggled once and the kids were always happy. During the day the kids could go in the Thomas Cook kids club which was open for 2-3 sessions a day and a couple of hours each time or the hotels own mini club which was open twice a day so there was plenty for them to do, the Thomas Cook club is a Nintendo zone so the kids were occupied with many activities including the Nintendo Wii and DS consoles to play on. There is also a playground right next to the clubs and pool so the kids could go from one thing to another and you would always be able to keep an eye on them, there is a lovely shallow kids pool and the main pool was fab, it has a walk in shallow end and I swear it was the warmest pool I have ever been in and was absolutely spotlessly clean, they also allow inflatables and when people leave them behind the attendants put them behind a shower area each night after the pool closed for everyone to share which I thought was a great idea. The entertainment was a let down, they have an in house team that were all a bit strange to be honest, they do a dance routine most nights which got a bit annoying but there is so much to do in the resort there is no need to stay in the hotel, the resort is packed with bars and plenty with kids activities plus there is a fairground on the main strip down to the beach, it can be expensive but you can limit your visits! Overall Es Cana and the Caribe are a dream for families with small children and older couples we have been to mainly resorts in Es Cana and this is our favourite with Santa Eulalia (next door) a close second. If you can get cheap flights you can book direct with the hotel and kids go free although the travel agents prices were very reasonable if booked early to get your free kids place. Would absolutely recommend 100%

Following a dodgy start at Coventry Airport with a 3 hour delay and 2 large stag parties on board plus a slight problem with our names not being on the transfer list from Ibiza airpport to our hotel, (possibly due to the fact that we had only booked the holiday with Thomson on the same day as departure) we arrived at Hotel Caribe in the very early hours of Saturday 14th June. Check in at the hotel was swift and efficient with a friendly attitude.
The room we were allocated was on the first floor, was quite small and the view was into adjacent residential apartments which was quite disappointing. However, after breakfast, we enquired at reception if a room with a pool or sea view was available and we were allocated a room on the 4th floor with balcony and pool view from the Monday at no extra charge. We were told that families with children were usually placed on the first floor - which is fair enough as the smaller children do tend to run up and down the corridors, however, our child is 15 years old, so the 4th floor was excellent for us. All rooms are the same (quite small but very nice bathroom, ample wardrobe space, safe (€2/day), dressing table and mirror) - it is just the view that differs, so if you are unhappy ask for a change. The rooms are cleaned every day except Thursday but towels are changed every day.
The breakfast buffet consisted of several cereals, fruit, yoghurts, bread, ham, cheese, bacon, sausage, fried egg (boiled eggs and scrambled egg were offered one day in the week we were there), beans, mushrooms, hash browns (sometimes), fried bread, croissants, toast, jams etc together with coffee and juice (not fresh or pure!).
Evening meal included a good variety of meat and vegetarian dishes, soup, several types of mixed salads, lettuce, tomatoes etc, chips (although there was a noticeable lack of green vegetables) breads, fruit and desserts. A bar service is available if you require a drink with your meal. We always found something suitable and everything was well cooked and tasty.
All the staff were friendly and helpful and the activities were plentiful if you chose to stay round the pool in the daytime. The evening entertainment was generally good - although one night several people did leave the area as the "act" was quite appalling - the Spanish sense of humour is quite strange!!
Whilst there were a lot of people who chose to stay at the hotel most days, we hired a car and visited most of Ibiza. San Miquel, Portinatx, Cala San Vicente are highly recommended as is Santa Eulalia which is the next large town with a fabulous harbour and you can actually get the minitrain there in the evening. Es Cana itself has a lovely beach, plenty of bars and restaurants and, for the little ones dodgems and fairground type rides in the evenings.
Overall we had a fantastic holiday and if there was one thing we could change it would be that dress code is introduced in the restaurant for the evening meal.
The hotel in our opinion is a good 3 star

I booked the hotel through Thomas Cook, after reading all the reviews on our short-listed hotel choices. After all, it has the best rating of any hotel in Es Cana on here, so it must be good, right? Well, not exactly.

We arrived at the hotel at about 4am as we had a late flight. The hotel looked nice from the outside, and the reception staff were very quick and efficient. We were staying on the fourth floor overlooking the front of the hotel, and we could just about see the sea.

Now, I shall warn you that the rooms in the hotel aren't soundproof in the slightest. We spent the whole ten days with very little sleep due to the noise coming from either side of us. The family in the next room stayed out on the balcony until 3am and then once they came inside, started to talk very loudly and you could hear everything. If someone slides the wardrobe door next door, you hear it. You can hear the person in the toilet next door and when it flushes! You could hear people in the corridor outside the room as clear as if they were in your own. Not what you expect from a 3 star hotel with good reviews.

We stayed in the hotel once to see what the entertainment was like. It was TERRIBLE. It's not provided by the reps, it's provided by local people who work at the hotel and whose English isn't up to much. Also, the shows weren't suitable for family entertainment. The one show I watched was the "Miss Caribe" which involved four of the guests competing in various tasks. One of these tasks involved getting a man from the audience wearing trousers and then getting a ball up the one leg and down the other, negotiating the obvious male parts.
I also caught the end of another show where the one rep was dressed as a baby, and it was bordering on a S&M show.

The pool at the hotel was adequate, but whenever I went for a swim, there were always dead insects and other rubbish in it. I've never seen a pool that dirty before, as they usually clean them daily.

We stayed half board at the hotel, and the food was probably the only good point of this entire break. The breakfast was plentiful and you had a wide choice from a typical cooked English breakfast to croissants and cereals.
The evening meals were a bit samey, and always included chicken somewhere. There was plenty of variety there though, and something for everyone. I'm a fussy eater and I was fine.

We hired a car whilst in Es Cana, and spent a lot of our time outside the hotel. We found a lovely beach not far from the hotel at Cala Nova. Do beware of the jellyfish though as I saw a lot of people running from the sea with stings. There is a lifeguard on the beach who does provide ammonia for the stings, however.

Ibiza Town is definitely worth visiting. The port there is beautiful and the town is very nice to walk around. The shops there are the best I've seen in any holiday resort. You can anything from clothes to jewellery.

I did find one thing that was odd about the markets on the island, and to some extent the street markets in Ibiza Town. The prices on all of the items are set. So when the item you're looking at is, say, 40 EUROS, that's what they want from you. No haggling any more. This was even the same at the hippy market - they won't haggle any more which I found ludicrous. That's the entire point of a market. Don't expect to find any bargains on this island as most of the shops are very pricey, but if you look in enough places then you'll eventually find a reasonable deal.

All in the all, the holiday was very average. The hotel was not what I was expecting, and the noise was unacceptable from room to room. I've only just caught up on my sleep now. If you don't want to sleep until 3am, don't mind shoddy entertainment and can sleep through anything, then stay here. If not, perhaps you may want to consider somewhere else. I know I would have if I'd known all of this. Not the best hotel in Es Cana - the Thomson Gold hotel next door, Panorama Marina, looked much better for a 3 star.

Great Hotel - Great Food - Lovely staff

Would recommend this hotel for anyone with a family. Great food, staff, facilities and situated 2 mins from the beach.

If you like a resort to be like home from home then Es Cana is for you but if you like to try some spanish food then don't go there.
