Due to the lack of reviews of this fantastic part of the world, we were unsure of what was to greet us. We travelled with "INGHAMS" and must say the service we recieved from our rep Fedrica was second to none!
The log cabins were beyond expectation, well equiped and located in a beautiful forest. The only problem we found was the lack of bed linen and the cleanliness of the actual duvets was sub-standard. This was the only bad point which we did'nt even complain about because everything else was perfect! We stayed in cabin type 8859 (Number 10) in total there were 10 well spaced out cabins on the site. Our cabin was right at the back and our bedrooms looked out on to snow covered pine trees, A total winter wonderland! There was a beautiful log fire which we used daily. There is a large stockpile of ready cut logs on every porch of each cabin. The bathrooms are large with a sauna room in each one. The kitchen was small but ample and even had a dishwasher!! We had no use for the mezanine but looked of ample size.
We opted for the halfboard option which was at the Tunturi hotel, approx a 20 min walk away. We only took breakfast once but food was plentiful with something for everyone. It was our choice to buy bread, jam and cheese soley to make our morning lazy and not because of the quality of the food. Evening meals where lovely, with a great choice of fish, meats and veg. They even had a childrens section with pizza, pasta, hotdogs and chips etc.
We went on 2 excursions....1. the ski-doo trip in search of the northern lights which took us on an approx 40 mile round trip into the forest just 20 miles from the russian border. Half way through the trip everyone stops so that the guide can give you a welcomed cup of hot berry juice. A highly reccomended trip. 2. The reindeer farm where a Sami family live and we got to take a romantic reindeer sleigh ride through the forest and after we were welcomed into the sami peoples home for coffee and cake. A magical experience all around,
The final night of our holiday, all ingham guests where invited to a gala dinner at the Gilas hotel. The food was top class and there was even a visit from the main man himself (Santa Claus) Although we travelled as a group of adults, the moment santa arrived brought the child out of everyone of us! Welldone Inghams you did everyone proud! And to top this magical holiday off we even got to experience the Northern lights!
We could go on and on about this wonderful, magical place but there is only one way to find out how fantastic it really is, and thats to go and experience it for yourself!!!
