Sweet Memories is very expensive for a very basic 2 star hotel. It's August high season, but, looking at the in-flight brochure, at £600 per person is almost as much as newer hotels in the centre of Protaras and Fig Tree Bay - pay the extra! SW should be much cheaper as it's old and desperately needs refurbishment - eg most of the bathroom tiles were chipped with putty slapped around the pipes. Used toilet paper has to go in a bin. However, the hotel is clean with helpful staff, away from the noisy main shopping and cafe strip of Protaras. The much needed air conditioning was an unwelcome and unexpected expense at an extra £50 per room, as according to the Olympic rep the government imports electricity. A/C for the bedroom only was needed but sufficient as it got cold, so moving to a hot lounge was useful to warm up. Good to have kettle and toaster, but needed more plugs in kitchen area. No microwave or TV. Loud pop music is played persistently from 8.30am, so no lies-ins even on a Sunday! The medium sized pool is cleaned daily but is not attractive enough to tempt us to stay all day. No lifts in our block. Fortunately, what saved our holiday was location. Our top floor appartment was a decent size, in a block at the back of the complex with a terrace view over the pool and the church from the lounge/diner, plus sea views from the stairs and bedroom. The bedroom at the back was mercifully quiet. Rooms at the front overlooking the road would be noisy. The hotel was bearable as a base but I wouldn't recommend it. The nearest beaches are super, but very busy and full, and can be reached easily by bus. We bought an extra sun umbrlla for shade. 2 beach loungers and an umrella cost 7.50 euros a day.Anyone who wants a quiet holiday in this area should be careful to avoid the hotels in the middle of the main shopping strip. Be warned -everything seems expensive as a result of the exchange rate.
If you don't want road noise ask for a corner top floor appartment at the back with sea and pool...
