Good location right beside the highway. Nice rooms with well working fast internet connection. A little bit over priced hotel, and food in the restaurant is just simple Scandic food without any other options.
Location:
Scandic Järva Krog is located in the outskirt of Solna, and is located in a business area with no other facilities like restaurants and shops.
So only reason to stay here is if you have business in the area, like me.
The hotel in itself is however ok, but the noise from the highway next door could be annoying.
Reception: Very nice staff
Rooms: Standard Scandic rooms; no more; no less. Good working area, and a quite good internet connection. Small LCD TV, with a limited choice of channels.
No extra equipment in the room (standard room).
Not possible to let the windows be open due to the constant noise from the highway E18, so at summertime this is not a place to stay.
Breakfast: Standard selection, but very bad selection of bread. And as before; my measure for the breakfast is how the scrambled eggs are. And this was of the lowest quality; some pale yellow substance how looked more like a soup than eggs.
Why is it so difficult to crack an egg? I am more than willing to give any hotel staff a course in this, so that they do not have to use the terrible substance from cans, which they are using now!
Just call me!!
Restaurant: Hotel restaurants very seldom gives you a pleasant surprise; so also with this.
The menu is quite small, especially for the starters there was a very limited choice.
However, there is also a today’s menu, which could be ok.
In addition, there is a Jamie Oliver menu, which I suppose has been composed for Scandic.
No success; I do not have to say more…
The service is a little mixed: The first day I did not get quite what I had ordered, but there was no excuse for that. Moreover, no bread was offered.
The second day there was a very pleasant Swedish girl serving. Bread, olives and nice butter was brought to the table right away, and I even got to taste the wine even it was ordered by the glass.
The Jamie Oliver was however not a good choice, but that was not to blame the waitress..
I stayed there for 2 nights in August 2014. Like all the other Scandic hotels I have stayed in, spotless clean and everything functioning perfectly. True nothing fancy, but itsa no nonsense hotel which will deliver all the promises it makes. The location is cleverly picked. Its right on the highway thus very practical if you are travelling by car. It is quite far from Stockholm but its very easy to reach with good public transport access.
This was another Scandic experience. One of the more basic ones.
Location:
The hotel is located between Kista and Solna. Please do not mix it up with Solna Centrum, where you can find restaurants, shops and other places to spend time.
Around the hotel is only a fuel station and a car dealer. You can travel to the city in Stockholm, though is there no subway connection. If you travel by car, take in consideration that there are long car queues on your way into the city.
The biggest minus: The hotel is placed directly at the E4, which is Sweden's most busy highway exactly at this point with 4 lanes in each direction.
If a good night sleep is important for you, better look for another hotel. The noise is terrible.
Look and feel:
Another hotel that has truly seen better days a long time ago. The lobby appears to be outdated and used to be crowded with people.
Room:
I start to get annoyed by the design of Scandic hotels. This here is another example for that.
It just looks so boring, uncharitable and outdated, too. Check my pictures to see what I mean.
Typically Scandic there is wooden floor, very basic furnishing in a tiny room.
There were no toiletries what so ever.
That all feels a bit odd considering a nightly rate of 210 USD. I would almost go that far to call it rip-off.
Breakfast:
The next morning I got to enjoy breakfast in an uncomfortable room were people were almost stacked. The breakfast was the same standard as in other Scandic hotels. You know what you get. Though do I miss a bit of love and effort that the staff could put into the breakfast. At least it could feel as if they would care a bit about there guests.
Tip:
Should you really consider to stay at this hotel, the best way to travel here from the Stockholm Arlanda airport is by taxi. Ask for a fixed price and compare prices before the driver throws your luggage into his car.
There is not a direct or pleasant public transportation between the airport and the hotel.
Budgetplaces.com offered places where to accommodate in Stockholm and I chose one: Scandic. It was a good decision because people in the hotel were nice and helpful plus the breakfast was really tasteful!
OK rooms. OK breakfast. Its not bad just not Scandic value for money. Feels a bit worn down.
Spa was nice though. Kids enjoyed it immensely. No restaurant service at all during Easter... so we had to either order pizza or take the car.
