We exchanged into White Sands Beach Resort and, apart from the resort's own website and Tripadvisor, didn't know too much about it. Our welcome couldn't have been more friendly, the receptionist was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and there was someone on hand to assist in getting our luggage from the hire car to the apartment. The apartment was very clean, although a little small for our party (5 adults, 2 children), but we'd stretched a point in bringing an extra adult because our 2-year-old grand-daughter didn't count against the maximum occupancy as she was in a cot, so if it was a little cramped at times it was our own doing! The apartment was well-equipped with a decent-sized oven and 4-ring hob, a large fridge/freezer and a TV, DVD player and radio (with an iPod dock). There was a bath with a shower and a hair-dryer. A safe was located in the main bedroom, which cost €12 to rent for the week, with a refundable deposit. Electricity was charged as an extra, but the charges were very reasonable - we only paid €8.70 for the week which, considering there were 7 of us, was pretty good. DVD's were available to borrow at no charge from Reception, where there was also a supply of paperback books available to borrow free of charge. The L-shaped terrace looked out on to the central square and contained a large table, chairs, and four sun-loungers.
We're normally fairly self-sufficient on holiday, so we weren't looking for lots of entertainment or things to do. There was a programme of childrens' activities, which we we didn't really study but looked good, and which we didn't use because the weather was so good and we were on the beach most of the time and in the water. The pool was very inviting, but freezing cold - the sea was warmer. Whites, the on-site restaurant, was very good and the prices were pretty reasonable, with a good range of choices for all palates and a good selection of childrens' meals. They were quite happy to serve up an adult portion on two plates for our grand-children when they didn't want any of the childrens' menu choices. They had entertainment on several nights, including karaoke. There was no on-site shop, but there was a small Spar supermercado a couple roads up from the resort, accessible by many, many steps. The site and the general surrounding area is perfectly fine unless you have mobility problems, in which case you will find it difficult to negotiate and perhaps ought to think again.
The cleaning service was excellent, with frequent towel and linen changes.
There were very few facilities available in the surrounding area, with most restaurants and bars either closed or closing, as it was the end of the season, however our son, daughter and son-in-law went out on a couple of evenings to an Irish pub about 15 minutes walk from the resort and had a good time.
There are duplex apartments available sometimes, which afford a little more privacy if you're us...
