Travelling with a 3 year old, we chose this hotel over Princess Yaiza (Playa Blanca) due to the spa. On that front we were not disappoiinted. The spa staff are very attentative, and provide a level of service we'd expect in a 5 Star location. However, aspects of the hotel let themselves down somewhat.
- As many have said before the breakfast is great, no question or qualms there. However the evening meal selection is poor. As restaurants only open at 7:30pm (not at all child friendly timing as we had to put the little one to bed) we had no option but to have room service. One night room service delivered the wrong meal (easy mistake). Totally unforgiveable is undercooking a breaded chicken breast destined for a child. Sirloin was rare one night, well done the other.
- Rooms are well proportioned. Our Family Room consisted of two rooms put together (the child thereby getting his own bed and not tempted to jump into ours!).
- Service in general bordered on 'jobs worth'. Just one example - We missed the pool bar by 5 mins. Nobody was prepared to get the child an icecream - we would have to order through room service for a 2.5 Euro icecream, and spend 5 Euros on it's delivery!!! You'd never see that happen in Dubai...
- Evening entertainment starts at 10:30pm!!! Apparently people only start eating at 10pm....Our fault for having a kid....
- Eating out wasn't a better experience either. I get the sense that locals expect to encounter naive foreigners with big wallets. Went down to the Harbour - Food over-priced and slow in delivery. I would particularly avoid the Tapas place "Taberna Del Peurto" (No 17, next to Lanas). Having waited 5 mins we got a bread roll and water - literally that's all!!! Then waited 10 more minutes and had to eventually ask for our butter!! We gave up and left leaving 5 Euros, only to have the manager chasing us demanding more money with menaces.

We had more fun having evening picnics. Go to the Harbour supermarket and buy supplies to enjoy on your balcony.

This is clearly a destination for those without kids. a nicely positioned sand play area with slides etc.. was welcomed. We knew the beach was non-existent (although the small beach alcoves were sufficient for our needs). Our boy loves climbing, and we had immense fun rock climbing the sealine cliffs.

Good hotel that compares to other 5 star hotels I have stayed in. Rooms clean and pleasantly decorated. Breakfast good choice.

The only complaints were the lack of staff - there seemed to be a lack of staff in all sections reception, bar and at breakfast. It wasn't a big issue as we weren't in a hurry to get any where.

The other moan was the gym - only went once for about 15 mins as the air conditioning wasn't switched on so it was hideously hot and it didn't open until 10am and would have preferred to go before breakfast.

Loved the Beach Club.

Would go back as enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of Puerto Calero.

This hotel is really beautiful, lovely decor and a nice relaxed ambience. The rooms were spot on and the food was really nice. Brilliant choice at breakfast, I put on lots of weight on my trip! It is definitely on the quiet side and there is nothing really going on at night time, Puerto Calera is lovely with some nice restaurants but again is on the quiet side. Good for a romantic holiday. I would definitely agree with its * rating.

“Suite was 5 star experience”

Hesperia Lanzarote Hotel

We paid 210 euros for a suite, no 105. It was absolutely great - equipped with a circular jacuzzi bath with bubbles - it was a great experience - we al got in.

The hotel is definately 5 star, pools and views are stunning and restaurants offer some of the best food on the island.

Bad points - not really very child friendly - loads of steps, inadequate rails on bridges and steep drop to rocks in the sea on the man made beach on the la caleta suite - although it is very swish with beds and a chiffon covering pagoda to keep you cool - an adult experience though.

We stayed for a night in the suite for my cousins wedding and it is really a touch of luxury, but more for couples

Do not listen to any of the negative reviews you read about this hotel. They are all talking rubbish. Me and my wife have just returned and we had the most amazing time.

On arrival we were courteously met with a glass of champagne. Nice touch. The hotel is perfect. I have stayed at many 5 star resorts around the world so know what to expect and this did not dissapoint.

We had paid extra for a sea view room however the one they originally gave us, although lovely, the view was intercepted by a huge palm tree. We asked kindly to move and without any fuss they immediately put us on the top floor. Very very friendly and helpful staff.

The room was perfect. Quite roomy and modern. The double sinks are great. The room was spotless. Really don't know what planet some of these reviewers were on when they put the room was not very clean. The maid came every single day and sometimes twice to deliver a chocolate!

The pools and setting was top notch. 3 lovely pools and very well designed. Very clean and the main pool had just been refurbished. Surrounding gardens etc were again spotlessly clean

We paid for bed and breakfast and the breakfast was faultless. Lots of choice and not one sign of a bird as mentioned in previous reviews.

We ate in the buffet restaurant one night which was pretty good but must say overpriced at 30 euros each. We also ate in the A la carte restaurant twice and the food was just beautiful. Again not cheap (100 euros for two including wine) but worth it if you like quality food.

Most nights we ate down at the harbour. A 10 minute walk and there are sevral restaurants most of good quality. Its a lovely walk from the hotel to the harbour and so much more choice. Also a lot cheaper especially for drinks. The drinks in the hotel are quite expensive

I do agree with other reviews however that this hotel does lack somehting in terms of entertainment. Nothing happens at night. Even in peak season not all the bars and restaurants are all open. The seem to operate on a rotary basis. A few more staff, more entertainment and more opening of bars would make this place faultless. There has however been a new bar just opened down on the man made beach with large bed type chairs to lye down on and drink the night away.

Comments about the kids. We went as a couple looking for a relaxing break. Even though it was school holidays we had exactly that. Yes obviously there a few kids but nothing distracting. The hotel was no where near full which works in your favour. Absolutely no fighting for sunbeds and not once did we not get where we wanted to go.

I cannot grumble at our experience here. I would definately return and just dont understand how people could be negative about this place. If you have booked to go dont worry. You will love it.
