Stayed here on 13 September for a week, loved every minute of it.
ROOMS
The TARIDA Beach has the choice of either studios or one bed roomed apartments, the studios have been recently refurbished and are of a very high standard, well equipped, clean and modern, all with a private balcony. The apartments are in a separate building away from the main complex and are quite a lot older than the studios, however they have been recently modernised with hairdryers air conditioning etc. There is quite a noticeable difference between the two room types however, if like us you only use the room to sleep in and want a separate bedroom to put the kids to bed earlier, the apartments are fine.
THE COMPLEX
This is an extremely large complex with everything you could ever need, an on site supermarket and boutique, swimming pools, gym, Jacuzzi, play areas, bars, restaurants, tennis courts, internet access etc.
THE POOLS
There are two pool areas, the bottom area which is mainly focussed on entertainment and games etc throughout the day, events such as aqua aerobics, water volleyball and kids games take place throughout the day and music is played at this pool. The top pools are very quiet and ideal if you just want to relax, both pools are served by their own bar which also served snacks and ice creams.
THE RESORT
The resort of Cala Tarida is a very very small and quiet, it consists of two supermarkets a gift shop and a chemist, however there is a lot to do at the hotel and accessing other parts of Ibiza is easy.
OUT & ABOUT
There are 2 bus stops at the end of the road where the hotel is situated, One side takes you to Ibiza Town (takes about 40 mins), This service runs through San Jose (15mins) which is a very pretty traditionally Spanish village. The other side takes you to San Antonio Bay & Town (25 mins) which was surprisingly a lot nicer than I’d imagined. The bus service is very reliable - the buses were always on time, however the service is not very frequent with about one bus an hour, they stop in the afternoon for about 3 hours too.
FOOD & DRINK
The food at the Tarida Beach is outstanding with every kind of cuisine you can imagine, they cater well for all nationalities and always have a massive amount of choice at every meal. Breakfast was a choice between Bacon , eggs (scrambled fried or boiled) sausage, beans tomatoes, toast, bread, cereal (4 choices) Fresh fruit, croissants, ham, cheeses, fruit juices, even cake!
Lunch and dinner generally consisted of Meat (3 choices), Vegetables, potatoes, Fish, Chicken, Pizza, Pasta, Salad, Cooked meats, Breads, cheeses, Fresh fruit and much much more, (Also a massive choice of desserts) I have honestly never seen so much food in all my life! It was always hot and freshly cooked, and the food was never ‘recycled’ the following day. There’s always a massive choice for kids too and all the meals are buffet style so you can be as greedy as you like.
In addition to the buffet restaurant there’s also the fish restaurant on the beach, the grill restaurant and the pizzeria which unlike many all inclusive you can visit them as many times as you want.
Drinks - You can have pretty much anything - all brands and well known soft drinks, water etc.
FOR KIDS
There’s loads to do for kids here, the Kids clubs are indoors and spilt into age zones, with plenty of toys, colouring and structured activities, there are 2 fantastic playgrounds which are extremely safe and well equipped, The kids pools are fab too, shallow and self contained, the hotel supply water toys too.
THE STAFF
Despite reading previous reports about rude staff I found nothing of the sort, On arrival they insisted on taking the cases to our rooms, and always seem happy to help with any requests you have such as bus times etc. Like most European hotel staff they appreciate it if you make a slight effort with the language, not just ‘loud English’! Rooms were cleaned every day and bed linen and towels changes 5 times a week.
THE BEACH
Cala Tarida has a fabulous beach with almost white sand and very clear water, The beach is lifeguard protected and very clean.
OTHER BITS
The guests at this hotel are only about 15% British, mainly consisting of Italians, Spanish and Germans I was amazed at how many people (mainly English) fill up massive plates of food only to leave it to be thrown away, All in all this is a fantastic little place with everything you need literally on the doorstep. The evening entertainment can be quite loud but stops at 11pm, My only advice would be if you are considering visiting here do not go Self catering, the rooms are perfectly well equipped but there’s nowhere to buy any food!
