This was my first trip abroad and i did not want to come back. The hotel and location was amazing! The staff were very friendly especially in the Pool Bar. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a relaxing break away from everything. The locals are all friendly and most do speak english.
Would definately come back!!

“Terrible holiday”

It was a very bad holiday. The service was terrible and the food was also very bad. The rooms were small and were of a very poor standard. I went with my boys who are 15 and 18 and they had nothing to do. I would never go back.

We stayed at The Spring Hotel Playa La Arena for a week at the beginning of April and loved it!

We booked the hotel online and completed the form for the 15% discount card which we received within 2 weeks. As part of the package we also received complimentary transfer from the Airport which was very efficient. When we arrived at the hotel check-in was very smooth and straight forward however we did comment afterwards that the receptionist was ‘a bit miserable’.

After taking in the magnificent views of the reception and lounge area we made our way to our room, which was everything I could have asked for, beautiful views, comfortable, clean, spacious with plenty of storage, lovely bathroom, bathrobes, (slippers if you wanted), mini bar, TV, etc. the only problem I had with it was the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Maybe when we return they will have added this feature in the rooms!!

The pool area was perfect; maybe going earlier in the year was an advantage as we never had a problem finding a sun lounger. The weather was a glorious 23C-25C most days so took advantage of the pool to cool down in. The crazy golf was really good fun although aimed at the kids it certainly was crazier at times then other.

Breakfast each morning was such a delight, with everything you could imagine, my favourite had to be the made to order omelettes, cooked to perfection, and guaranteed to be hot. Evening meals had a variety of themes each night, French night seemed to go down the best with us. Again, an array of foods but as the restaurant is very large it isn’t a relaxed and formal occasion. We did comment on the noise levels – crockery clanging was the main source, although this could be forgiven as we knew breakfast (and the omelettes) was only around the corner!!. The poolside bar served delicious light lunches, my favourite was the vegetarian toasted sandwich and my partners was the hamburger (approx 4EUR each) however don’t get stung by the 15EUR each buffet option – not much choice and last night’s dinner left over’s.

One bad point is the hotel’s WiFi service which is the worst I’ve ever experienced. I don’t agree with the other reviewer’s “unprecedented strain” - it just doesn’t work. We were fortunate as the hotel was quiet but only managed one 30 minute session despite trying every day. If you are planning to take your laptop you might want to try CanaryWireless.com. I haven’t tried it personally but we picked up their signal from our room and it looks to be good value for money. One thing is certain, it can’t be any worse than the hotel’s effort!

So to summarise, I absolutely loved this hotel and will hopefully return one day soon. Great location fantastic hotel, lovely food and wonderful staff... maybe see you there one day!!

We have just returned from our second stay at the Playa La Arena, and once again were not disappointed. Staff are helpful and pleasant, we hardly had to order our drinks as the waiters were on hand just as one was finished. Wonderful!! The food was excellent, different themes each night and usually steak cooked to your liking. We chose the lower pool area as the upper one tends to cater for children, this was very peaceful. We would most certainly return to this hotel. A little hint for a nice lunch is the Retro Restaurant which is outside the front of the hotel and about 2 minutes on the right. Lovely food with an extremely nice lady serving, she cannot do enough for everybody who enters the restaurant.

This was our fifth visit to this hotel in three years and its just great! The last review on 'domestics' is excellent and covers lots of detail - all of which is quite correct, anyone interested should read it.
The main advantage over its competitors is the value for money provided by the half board rate and the free taxi service if you book online and stay at least a week. This is worth 100 Euro !
Bar and wine prices are creeping up - we buy drinks at the nearby supermarket and bring them in. They have also done away with the pool bar 'happy hour' in the afternoon which is a shame, no one bothers with the 6.30 to 7.30 one in the dingy express bar as you cannot take your drinks out.
We can't wait to go back as soon as we can !!
Highly recommended
