We arrived with slight trepidation after reading earlier reviews. We wanted a quick and cheap break away from it all.... but with a bit of peace and quiet. We had read that music played till midnight and were a bit concerned. However, as we had arrived at the beginning of the season (1st of May) the shows were not on. The reception was good as very few people in Menorca speak good English (and quite rightly so) and we managed to understand what we had to do and what was available by sign language and a bit of Spanish as they did with a bit of English..
The room was tiny (12 ft x 10 ft). It contained twin beds (firm), a sink, a small dressing table and built in wardrobe which contained four drawers. There was only one power point next to the sink ( so bring a 4 way and adaptor). The toilet/shower rom was also small but not too bad. There a tiny balcony (4ft x 3ft) overlooking the pool and stage) The room was well cleaned daily and fresh towels laid out.
The restaurant was good and it was large. It was very popular and the same at breakfast.
The 3 course evening meals were large and of good quality and selection. They came with a free glass of wine. Breakfast was almost as large and very filling. As previous guests have stated, breakfast was different every day but we liked that.
The staff were very friendly even when busy preparing for the new season. The cleaning lady was exceptionally friendly considering she spoke hardly any English and we had good fun learning some Spanish through sign language. "Ola" is said to everyone as a greeting.
We did'nt get any bands playing while we were there and we were glad because apparently, it is very popular with both locals and tourists until midnight.
There is free Internet Access but the reception is not good in the guest rooms. The best reception is in the restaurant and outside area's nearby. A lot of people took advantage and the restaurant was always very popular.
CHEAPER EATING PLACES.
The Sa Paissa charged 15.95 Euro's for a large three course meal. It was good quality and value for money but,.. there were better prices nearby, especially if you did'nt want a three course meal. Pito's (about 50 meters away) was EXTREMELY good value and a 'Grilled Steak' with salad and chips came on a plate the size of TWO normal dinner plates and was difficult to finish. I managed only twice. The price...only 9 Euro's.
A good place to go for a cheap holiday. Good service and friendly staff. Say "Ola" to everyone, every morning because everyone is friendly. Prices are generally the same as as in England.
Our only complaints were... there was no kettle for a cup of tea and no fridge to keep milk or snacks in.
