We stayed at Damia's for the first 3 weeks of September and it was our 4th time staying in the Sidari area as we love the Country, culture and the people and we now return every two years for 3 weeks. We usually stay near the main strip, but wanted a quieter part of the area this time and we were not disappointed. Beautiful hotel, beautiful views and very helpful and friendly staff. We only had one disturbed night when people got moved into the room next door as their air con had broken and they arrived back early hours of the morning and decided to have a loud chat on the balcony until 4.30 am, but we knew they were on holiday and we expect that from people who are on holiday as they are usually there to enjoy themselves. Other than that, the noise was no more than what you would usually get if you choose to stay in a hotel complex - if you want total peace and quiet then maybe apartments without a pool/bar would be the better option so you would only be woken up by the cockerels.
I did smile when I read the comment about Damia only being nice to you if she liked your husband - I am pleased to say my husband returned home with me : ) I never once witnessed Damia or her family being anything but friendly and helpful towards the guests and from what I saw, Damia got on just as well with the wives/females as she did with the husbands/males.
The maid service was the best we have ever had and out of the three weeks we stayed there were only two days that they did not come in and that was because we declined the service as we were having a lazy day in bed !!
As for the mosquitos, it was the WHOLE island that had a mosquito problem not just Damias hotel. We visited a large area of the island and it was the same everywhere and there was a huge amount of people (including my husband) from all areas of the island that said they never usually get bitten and this year they had. I also spoke to many people around the island who like me, usually get eaten by mosquitos and so take precautions to reduce this such as using citronella etc and they all said this was the first year that the repellants and antihistamines did not work - I find it very harsh to blame the mosquito problem on the hotel. Maybe in time someone will put a review on here that will blame the unusually high temperatures for September (high 40's) on the hotel !!
So all in all we had a lovely 3 weeks, we met some lovely people and enjoyed some late night chats, laughs and drinks at the bar and we would definately go back again.
Oh and I swam in the pool most days and it was immaculate.
