Due to last minute changes in our professional lives, our two day stay in Alwar Bagh changed to one day and we spent one day in Clark’s as there were no rooms in Alwar Bagh on Saturday.
Alwar Bagh is a heritage resort – but the heritage part is owned by the proprietor and they stays there. Where guests stay are new wings that are recent constructions. It is about 12 kilometers from Alwar on the Jaipur Road.
A series of written requests helped me upgrade our standard room to a suite and was happy to spend one night there!
But the experience was far from happy…
The room was beautiful with huge copper fitments! The bed headrest was of copper too!
The room was huge – a single room with almost 200-250 sq feet floor area in the height of winters and no heater or floor rugs! We tried with the airconditioner and it didn’t work at all. Finally we got a heater after a couple of reminders!
There is no room service! The dining space is a travel of almost 150 meters in the open… an amazing experience. But they do serve snacks in the room.
There is no laundry service – you will not find packets or service rates included in the room. We asked room service for some hand tissues and they refused – they said that they don’t supply tissues! Calling the reception requires patience – the phone is never picked before 8-10 rings. But they do pick and try and help.
There is no default kettle in the room – had to specifically ask for it. Again took a long while to get it.
The TV channels are very few… thankfully Nikel and CN is there, but if you expect Zee, Star, or Color… these are not working! They have shifted the blame to d2h (their TV service provider) –who don’t provide good service to them! Wonder if they pay d2h…
We had a ground floor suite and the windows don’t have any grills – the boundary is barbed wired and the gate remains open all the time with no guards that we can see… A sense of insecurity was also felt.
And remember no morning newspaper!
Water – no hot water! At night we were told that we have to keep the sink taps flowing for 15 minutes and then you will get hot water… and we did! In the morning, after keeping two sink taps open for almost an hour – there was no hot water. When we finally asked – they said the water heating device had a problem so no flowing hot water! At almost zero degrees… and no hot water! Of course, they gave us a few buckets of hot water… but again – a total disaster of a holiday!
The morning breakfast was good – and we really enjoyed the sun!
Visit them if you really must!
