Our room at the Shikhar was unusually spacious, and even had a corridor with shelves and cubbies for luggage storage. There was a sizeable balcony, with a wonderful view of the valley and the sunsets. There was a good shower and abundance of hot water (always a happy surprise in Indian hotels). The room looked reasonable clean, but it was infested with cockroaches -- not a pleasant experience. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The worst problem was the location (calling this bazaar a "mall" area is laughable), and the resultant lack of any good restaurants. The one in the hotel was barely passable, there were no decent alternatives in easy walking distance (the area is steeply hilly), and there are no autorickshaws for transportation around town. All in all, neither the worst nor the best we've experienced. I would recommend it, with some hesitation.
