I have just returned from a week long break in a lodge at Ogwen Bank. In all honesty, the breathtaking setting and fabulous location made up for a few minor niggles.
Our lodge overlooked the River Ogwen (spectacular) and was well equipped with washer dryer and dishwasher. TV reception was good and we were able to watch the usual channels as well as CBBC and CBeebies (the children not me!!). I'd taken our 'travel' DVD player just in case of poor picture quality but we didn't need to use it. I wouldn't class the finish as luxurious but it was comfortable with the exception of the beds - possibly in need of replacement.
The site had a useful shop and a small play area which my 8 and 2 year old liked to visit. The bar was pleasant and had reasonable prices.
The only other downside (apart from the beds) was the noise from quarry lorries on the opposite side of the river (mon-fri). This did not spoil my holiday in any way but did break the tranquility during the day midweek.
The location was brilliant - the park is about 10 minutes away from the A55 so easily accessible to many tourist attractions.
All in all, I feel that the holiday was excellent value. Our aim was to stay in a relaxing and tranquil location with easy access to attractions - Ogwen Bank definitely achieved this.
