This resort is a loose collection of small houses and bungalows that are scattered withing a small village. The beach in that area, has mostly eroded away. You can walk out there...it's a couple of blocks away....but there aren't really any places to sit and hang out. You'll need to bring your own chairs. We ended up driving to the nice beach called Los Arbolitos...about 3 miles south of town. The casita we stayed in was like a giant palapa. Bed not very comfortable. There weren't any comfortable chairs around. It was too hot to stay there during the day. They had A/C, but it cost extra. Maid service is extra. And be sure to use the bug screen....I won't go into the details on that one.
We went there to dive. Showed up that morning. Got our gear ready around 9:15....boat small so no extra bags or water or anthing allowed. Told to get in our wetsuits. Sat in our wetsuits until 10:00. Then we hiked out to the beach, and stood around for 45 minutes while the snorklers loaded into the other 2 pangas. Still in wetsuit...no shade. Our captain was hauling around 15 gallons of gasoline with a cellophane bag for a lid and smoking the whole time. We kept our distance. Finally in boat. We had a new diver and a father with us. Told dive will be limited to 45 minutes. That was OK, cause viz was about 20 feet and it was cold. We had to stay close to everyone to avoid being lost. Lots of fish and coral, and would be nice with good viz. New diver's rented regulator was almost free flowing the last 5 minutes of the dive. 2nd dive at the sea lion rock. We got to stay a full 5 minutes before we had to move on. Great 5 minutes. Dive was 40 minutes this time. They say it is park rules.
The restaurant there is called the Coral Reef. Food was OK to good, for a remote spot like that. They charge in dollars, and are more expensive than the other restaurants in the area. We had trouble with the service...waiter set my food down, I had no beer left. I had to choke down the dinner and couldn't get a drop to drink despite asking twice...and there were only 3 tables with people. Couldn't pay my bill due to no service, and had to get up to leave and stand by the door to get some attention. Manager apologized though and comped me a free bottle of water. He obviously has his hands full.
