I cannot be as effusive as most other contributors regarding this B and B.The rooms were good and the beds excellent and Rosie was very welcoming. However, Norm (?) was very dour and did not seem to be enjoying what he was doing, making no attempt to talk to any of us.
Breakfast was only average with hard, almost inedible bacon. There was no fruit or yogurt on offer and only a small glass of very ordinary orange juice. One of our group had haddock and poached egg but most of us were not aware that there was any choice.

We are sorry that your stay with us was less then excellent.

Perhaps because of your late arrival you did not have time to read the guest brochure in each room that includes a breakfast menu as you would then have known that kippers and smoked haddock are available as well as eggs, any style. In general our policy is “Just Ask” and we can usually oblige. Certainly we have an ample supply of fruit available, usually visible on the dresser in the breakfast room, as well as a selection of yogurt in the fridge, it’s just that we don’t have room for everything when we have a group as large as yours. I’m sorry that the orange juice did not meet your standards but we cannot justify the expense of using fresh oranges. Sorry about the bacon, but you are the first person to complain about it as most people find the dry cured bacon to be very tasty, even if it can be a bit resilient at times.
As the service we provided , I can only say that sometimes it takes a bit of time to feel comfortable with our guests and as your group was only here for one night and arrived late we were not given much time to get acquainted. You have highlighted one of the reasons why we do not as a rule take one night bookings on weekends and we can see how making exceptions can backfire on us.
