We are a family with two teenage kids, a boy and girl aged 17 and 15.
The hotel is great. The staff are very polite and look after your every need. From the very start of the holiday, when having your welcome drink on arrival, we knew we were going to have a great time. The reception staff were very welcoming.
The rooms are basic with air conditioning that actually does cool the room down and a mosquito net that pulls around the bed.
The food at the hotel was superb and varied; every night there was something different on the menu. The entertainment was OK, it varied between local tribes, like the Masai doing dances or a bit of a disco and cabaret on one night.
The hotel is set on a beautiful beach, white powder sand and turquoise sea. There is a coral reef that you can go out to when the tide is low. You will need aqua shoes to protect your feet; there are sea urchins in the coral areas. We saw all types of fish, eels and coral, its great. There are beach boys on the beach that will try and sell you trips and wooden carvings etc. A firm no thank you seems to do it, but we found them to be OK and we played football with them and got to know a lot of them.
Safari: We booked our safari before we went out with a company called Game Drivers Safaris. www.safarikenya.co.uk
I cannot recommend this tour enough. If it’s the real thing you want, stopping out in a tent in the bush, this is the company to go with. The tents are superb and the team lead by Nigel was brilliant, they really did look after everything for you.
We flew up to the Masai Mara for three days and were meet by Marilize , one of the drivers in our 4x4 Landrover. We saw so many animals, it was fantastic and the camp life is so exciting and you get to meet the families of the Masai lads that look after you, just superb.
All in all a fantastic holiday at a great hotel and a superb safari.
