We dropped into this restaurant on a visit to lovely Saltburn by Sea. We planned to have fish 'n' chips sitting on the sea wall but, it was s-o-o windy, we decided to eat in. Very glad we did, too.
I ordered a small cod and chips, and along came a HUGE plate of spanking fresh fish in delicious, light batter (not that day-glo orange slab you usually get), with chunky, real potato chips. Seriously good - as good as stuff I have had in posh London fish restaurants at easily half the price. My companion is a vegetarian so, the fishy menu was not to her taste. However, the waitress helped her put together something that really met with her approval, and she said her meal was great, too. I think that veggies are OK about cobbling together a meal provided staff don't treat them like freaks, and this was certainly the case here.
The decor is amazing, and the toilets a real treat. It is very busy though, and queueing for toilets is not fun, especially as this is not a spacious establishment. If I had one point of mild dis-satisfaction, it would be that the owners might consider fitting in an extra toilet.
